"The job was to move a house's wiring from one electric meter to another. The work took the Leading Edge electrician 2 hours, and he did a good job. Everything was done right the first time. Having given credit where it is due, I would not be telling the full story without mentioning some serious issues: (1) They were hired on March 10. They said they would do the job the week of March 16; that week came and went with no work done (and no update of any kind). The delay continued until March 31, when I basically said it was now or never. The main issue was a lack of coordination with the electric company. (2) All work was completed on March 31. I got the bill on May 18. Due date: May 18! The electrician was there 2 hours, but the bill was for 3.5 hours. Bottom line: I chose Leading Edge over lower bids, but knowing everything I know now, I would make a different choice."

"Bill is a nice guy, very fun to talk to, very upbeat.  I had considered making him my go-to electrician, since I have some future wiring needs to finish out a basement.
However, after he left, I noticed my whole-house humidifer was no longer working like it had been prior to the new furnace installation (ie only coming on when the furnace runs).  To his credit, Bill came back and checked it out and together we determined he needed to install a relay to put everything back in order.  He told me twice he'd "get to it tomorrow" only to drop the ball and not return my calls.  I'm generally pretty forgiving and gave him  the benefit of the doubt on multiple occasions, but anyone that I need to continually chase down and pester is probably not an appropriate choice for a regular "go-to" electrician.
I hesitated to write this review, hoping he'd get back to me, but it's been over a month, and I'm still without my humdifier at the time of year when I need it most.  The furnace is working great, but alas, no humidity.
Hopefully Bill, you'll read this and come install my relay to get my system back to what it was.  I'd be willing to remove this review if we can get that accomplished.
Many thanks.

"They're pretty good. I think overall they're good, I'm happy I have it. They can be problematic, that's if you don't know your contract and what's covered or not. It's fine. I like it. I like American Home Shield. They don't really vary in cost. They do respond to you. They send really decent referrals and you really don't have to do too much. They have different plans, so it's up to the person to find the plan and know what they are getting. When you call they suggest you go online. So when you go online and it does not turn out what they say, then they say you should have called. It's just a circular thing. When you put a claim in online, it only gives you a category and no opportunity for details and that's a problem. All my electrical smoke alarms went off in the middle of the night. It was horrible, I had to get up on a ladder at 2:00 am in the morning and pull out wires in the ceiling. To me it was an electrical issue, but they dismissed it. Because I couldn't tell them that in the service request, I just put electrical and it was a big problem. They're website needs to have a note, a comment. It would be great instead of a category to add some comments. They don't have that."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical maintenance in Sterling should address local challenges like dust, temperature swings, and moisture from irrigation. Test GFCI outlets monthly, inspect visible wiring and connections every quarter, and schedule a professional inspection annually—especially in older homes. For rural properties, check well pumps and outbuilding wiring regularly, as these areas often experience accelerated wear due to Sterling’s unique environmental conditions.

Helpful?

To protect your home in Sterling, establish a seasonal inspection routine: In spring, look for winter-related damage and test GFCI outlets. During summer, inspect systems supporting air conditioning and outdoor equipment. In fall, prepare heating systems and weatherproof exterior electrical components. In winter, monitor electrical loads and test backup lighting. Regular attention helps your electrical system handle Sterling’s changing climate.

Helpful?

When reviewing quotes in Sterling, be cautious of unusually low estimates, as these may indicate the use of inferior materials or skipped steps. Watch for contractors who avoid written documentation, insist on cash-only payments, or pressure you to decide quickly. Trustworthy professionals should provide clear, itemized estimates, understand local permit requirements, and offer references from other Sterling homeowners.

Helpful?

Completing electrical projects in Sterling offers immediate improvements in safety and code compliance, especially for older homes. Upgrading wiring or panels can enhance energy efficiency and support modern appliances. Over time, these updates reduce the risk of outages, lower the need for repairs, and help your home adapt to Sterling’s severe weather, ultimately increasing property value and long-term reliability.

Helpful?

In Sterling, small electrical projects such as installing outlets or lighting typically take a few hours to a day. Medium tasks like panel upgrades or partial rewiring are usually completed within a week. Larger projects, including full rewiring or agricultural installations, may require one to three weeks. Factors like weather, permit processing, and contractor availability in rural areas can influence project timelines.
