"Jade Floors did a fantastic job on our floors. We had them 1.) replace the carpet and engineered hardwood floors on our main floor with luxury vinyl flooring; and 2.) replace the carpet on the steps going up to the second floor and all the carpet on the second floor. The work performed was excellent and the floors on the main floor and second floor look absolutely amazing! Wade was very honest in answering our questions or advice. Before leaving the job site, each crew swept and left the work area clean/straightened up. The crews were very professional and knowledgeable! I recommend Jade Floors to anyone who is in need of flooring! We also reached out to friends who are remodeling their home and recommended Jade Floors for their remodel. The new carpet we selected is 80oz, which is top quality. The pad is 1/2" thick, which is top quality as well! We also paid for them to move the furniture, as both my husband and I are older and not as strong as we once were."

"From the initial phone call for a bid, to the completion of the work Garage Force was by far the BEST contractor we have ever had. And after renovating an entire mid-century modern home in two years that is high praise. The Reeds (owners) were respectful of our property, on time everyday, answered all our questions, and just went above and beyond to meet our needs. For those looking to finish concrete floors, there is no better company than this. We have already referred them to our realtor friends and others in our neighborhood."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Choosing the right carpet involves assessing room usage, desired comfort levels, durability requirements, and stylistic preferences. Carpet fiber types and density should also be considered during the decision-making process.

The rule of three for flooring means that you should have a maximum of three flooring types throughout your home, such as hardwood in your bedroom and living room and tile in your kitchen and bathroom. The rule brings cohesion to your home and creates a seamless look. By using the same material, you also save money on future repairs.

The type of flooring you choose for your bedroom comes down to personal preference. Many people prefer carpet over hard-surface flooring types (such as hardwood, tile, or stone) in their bedrooms because it’s warmer and cozier. Carpeting also helps muffle sound, which may benefit those who have trouble sleeping.

On the other hand, some folks prefer the look of hardwood over carpet. People with allergies might also opt for non-carpeted flooring since carpet fibers can attract dust, dander, and other allergens.

The toilet flange anchors to the subfloor, usually with wood screws or cement screws, but most of it should sit above floor level at full height. When a flange is flush with the subfloor or below it, it can lead to the creation of leak paths.

Dry rot or severe water damage may warrant a replacement, but you don’t always need to replace damaged subflooring. If your subfloor has warped because it was installed incorrectly, you can sometimes shim the panels (in other words, add a thin, wedge-shaped piece of wood to level the surface). If your subfloor bows upward, you may be able to sand it down at the joist so it’s level, depending on the extent of the damage.
