Everything from the flooring estimate schedule with Jodi to the estimate with Wade and the install went so smooth. I was highly impressed for the second time and will go to no other flooring place. "Good experience with the company and did a good job answering questions and concerns. Only troublesome aspect was whatever they used to clean the glue off the flooring was difficult to get off - slightly oily feel and showed all footprints. Be prepared to clean floors 3 or 4 times once they leave."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, installing laminate over carpet could negatively affect the resale value of your home. It’s no surprise that homebuyers prefer flooring that someone has installed according to industry standards. Laminate over carpet may raise concerns about the quality and stability of the flooring, impacting the overall perceived value of the property.

Not every type of flooring is well suited to a wood stove. However, ceramic or stone tiles are good choices since they are durable, heat-resistant, and easy to clean. Softer flooring options, like carpet, could be damaged by the heat produced by a wood stove—or even create a fire hazard.

If the stairs are already covered in carpet, you will need to remove the old carpet and possibly the carpet pad. Any damage to the stairs like cracks, loose boards, or creaky treads may also need to be repaired. You may also want to sand and refinish or paint wood stairs before installing a carpet runner.

No, replacing flooring is considered a renovation. You're updating an existing feature without changing the layout or structure of the space. However, it can be a remodel if extensive work is needed to update the subflooring.

If you’re using a carpet runner instead of a traditional carpet, pay attention to your width measurements. Instead of measuring the total width of your staircase with 2 added inches for foldover, simply measure the width you’d like the runner to cover. Runners generally come in standard sizes, so you may need to approximate what would look best in your space.
