CO Lumber Specialties/UFW opened its doors in 1983. Its purpose was to serve as a retail source of lumber, hardwood and moulding for professional woodworkers, builders and hobbyists alike. In the early 90's Unfinished Furniture Warehouse was introduced as an outlet for quality, real wood furniture. Our products consist of Real Wood Furniture for the whole house(No partical board), Graded hardwoods and plywood in over 30 species of wood, kitchen cabinetry and bathroom vanities, 4-lines of in stock kitchen cabinets, moulding & trim (stocked in pine, red oak, hemlock, hickory, maple, cherry, knotty alder, poplar, walnut & MDF), interior and exterior doors, stair parts, and an in house custom wood shop specializing in fireplace mantels, custom furniture, hardwood countertops made in the wood species of your choice, custom corbels and custom cabinetry. We also offer a full service door shop. In September 2001, Rocky Mountain Cabinets Inc., owned by Trevor and Trish Ghee, purchased CO Lumber/UFW with respect for the solid community presence it was, and a vision for what it could become. Our mission is to offer quality wood and wood related products; along with a knowledgeable and helpful sales staff. Our showroom and warehouse are centrally located one block east of Nevada and three blocks north of Fillmore. We offer delivery service anywhere in El Paso, Teller, Pueblo and surrounding counties. We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, cash and checks. Contractors and builders have the option for discounts and credit accounts billed monthly. We offer active military discounts and for the younger family members, we have a kid's play area!

"It is beautiful and well made of solid wood. It includes LED lighting in the crown molding. Exceeded my expectations!"

2000 years of experience

Q&A What is your typical process for working with a new customer? A free evaluation is offered to come up with the best strategy available to the customer. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? Color matching takes years of experience to create the original rendering. We use a proven products that work for restoration. Each type of leather is different and needs its own strategy. With over 16 years of experience leatherman has to ability to suit your needs. Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here. The process can consist of many strategies depending on numerous variables. We offer services from cleaning and conditioning to semi to full restorations. Our services are typically 20 to 50 percent of original retail cost. We do have a minimum of $275.00 How did you get started doing this type of work? It is family business that was started by my father. What types of customers have you worked with? We work with all types of customers from residential to commercial. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take? One recent project was for the ther Antlers At Vail where we serviced 14 condos from cleaning to conditioning to full restoration. I am fond of our reputation in the business to be trusted as an industry professional. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work? Ask for references! There franchises and newbies that unfortunately do not have the years of experience to fully understand how to restore leather. I am usually called out saying my couch is a PUMPKIN color now or it extremely stiff and is cracking. This all has to be stripped which is additional cost to move forward. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project? 1. Is it worth it to restore? What was the original value? 2. Do i like the style? 3. I always suggest go shopping with my estimate and see if you can

"Michael and son arrived early, performed their work in a clean, orderly, and quiet fashion fashion. Protected nearby furniture, walls and flooring. Left a spectacular result, chairs that looked like new. Removed sun fading, scratches, and discoloration with their superb process. Couldn't be happier. The only reason I rated price as good was regardless of the result, $800 for two chairs is a superb value not necessarily an excellent price."

We paint any material and work closely with Sherwin Williams to provide the best paint and products at the best cost. We provide free estimates.

"I've used this company before, and the great job they did before and the reasonable price were the two primary reasons for using them again. Axel, the owner, has assembled a group of great craftsmen, including team leads with exceptional experience, responsibility and commitment to excellence. During the five days the job took, I felt completely comfortable in my interfaces with the team - and Axel was always available if there were any higher level questions or issues. At one point when Axel was temporarily out of town, I asked the team lead how he felt about the boss's absence. His answer, given with a smile, was simple: "He trusts me." What more can one say about the kind of people Axel employs and the kind of manager Axel is. Whenever there were concerns, the team immediately listened and responded. They also did several small but significant add-ons that weren't in the written proposal without changing their price. Before the job began, when Axel and I went over the job description I mentioned two key requirements: color coordination of the three different products required to refinish the house, and careful cleaning of the numerous windows after the job was done. Now that the job is complete, my wife and I are so pleased by how well the colors coordinate between semi-transparent stain, solid stain, and paint: slightly different to add interest, but completely compatible. It's as if we have a new house instead of its actual 30 years. And the windows look like a professional window cleaner did the job. (We've had the house refinished multiple times over the years. And in almost every prior job, I've had to hire a window cleaner to come by and clean up the mess on the windows caused by the power washing and the bleeding of the stain spraying.) Finally, I'll say this about Axel himself. He's a very savvy craftsman in his own right, he listens well and is clear and to the point in discussions, and he maintains a friendly, poised, and customer-driven demeanor. Needless to say when we need a company to work with us on future painting projects, we'll stick with Axl Custom Painting."

Furniture Reupholstery questions, answered by experts

When hiring an upholsterer, look for a pro with experience in your chair type, positive reviews, and a portfolio of completed projects. Ask about their process, timeline, warranty, and whether they are insured. Getting multiple quotes from reupholsterers in your area and checking their references can help ensure quality and fair pricing.

Upholstery reduces waste sent to landfills, limits resource consumption, and supports sustainable living practices, provided fabrics meet standards.

On average, the cost to reupholster furniture is about $720 per piece. However the price range to upholster a piece of furniture varies widely from about $380 to $1,150 or more, depending on the material type and availability, repairs needed, and the complexity of the project. Fabric costs typically range from $50 to $70 per yard while the cost of labor runs from $40 to $100 per hour.

Interior and exterior door openings are typically 80 inches high, with openings 29¼ inches wide for interior doors and 35 inches wide for exterior doors. If your couch is smaller than these measurements, it should fit through the door frame.

Not always—heavily worn or broken furniture often isn’t worth repairing or refinishing (if it’s even possible). While some damage can be repaired and some of the visual appeal restored, major flaws, such as structural issues, can’t be fixed as easily. If you still want a cost-saving furniture refinishing project rather than purchasing all new, consider shopping for similar secondhand pieces at thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales.
