Customers say: Quality work

"Our project was an addition to our new St Aubyn home in Berthoud, CO. The addition was a 17ft x 28ft covered porch that looks like it was designed by the builder originally. It replaced a 10x13 concrete pad that the builder provided. The addition was done so that it integrated and matched the house to look like it was part of the original build. This required solid footings and concrete work. The roof was done to connect to the existing roof line, and the structure has two levels of ceilings covered with T&G Cedar boards. The porch post have stone work that matches the front of the house. We had a huge barn door added to the west side for wind and sun protection. The siding matches what St Aubyn the builder used. Only a picture shows you how great the finished project looks. Greg & his contractors did quality work, are professional and very easy to work with. Every individual involved with the project were friendly, listened to our input, and did quality work. Greg worked with us through our changes even after his original estimate. The project was completed with only a couple modifications to what the Architect and we originally had in the plans. It was great that Greg worked with us on these changes to achieve the results we have today! We recommend you select Gerrard Construction for your project needs."

"Monte was an incredible find for us. Ordering and delivery of our new custom front door and security door from Home Depot was an absolute nightmare. Having Monte do the install was the total opposite. He is one very talented carpenter. We live in a 1920's home in Old Town Fort Collins. installing a door in a house so old is no easy task. Monte got this done in a way that the new door looks like it has been there for years - and even better, he got it done quickly and always stuck to his schedule. He completed all the painting, touch up and cosmetic work. He was able to reuse a large amount of the original 20's siding, and what he couldn't use, he replaced in a way that matched the house and the time period. He also was extremely careful about keeping my house and property clean during the whole process. They regularly swept and vacuumed as the project went on. His colleague who came to help was equally as professional and talented. I have and will continue recommending Monte Sheets to my friends and family."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Francisco Garcia did an excellent job finishing our basement. The work quality is excellent. The communication and flexibility throughout the project was excellent. The project finished on time within budget with zero surprises. Any concerns that arose were addressed expeditiously and professionally. I highly recommend Colorado Paradise Builders for your next project. The building inspections were coordinated by Colorado Paradise Builders and passed easily. We learned while talking to the inspectors that we had a gift by using Francisco as a general contractor. They mentioned other people in the business may not provide the level of customer service and professionalism which Colorado Paradise Builders demonstrated on our basement finishing project. I could not be more enthusiastic with a recommendation."

"living space and then extending the patio beyond it -- and the end result is honestly incredible. What used to be a space we could only use part of the year is now a true second living area we use all the time. The transition between indoor and outdoor feels super seamless, and the added patio space outside makes it perfect for hosting or just relaxing. Throughout the whole project, their team made the process feel manageable and well thought out. Everything came together exactly how we had hoped, and you can tell a lot of attention went into both the design and the build quality. It completely changed how we use our home -- couldn't be happier with how it turned out."

"Chris was great, did an excellent job on my fence. He honored his price even though it took a few extra days due to the weather. I would use Profix Home Services again for my next project and would highly recommend them for yours!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property

A steel frame costs 10% to 20% more than a wood frame. Wood is a much easier material to work with, more accessible, and generally more affordable than steel—plus, you need specialized tools to work with steel.

If you can’t repair and repurpose your shed, it might be possible to sell it, donate it, or salvage parts rather than them just ending up in a landfill. Professional junk removal services will advise you on what can and will be recycled. You may also want to keep some parts to upcycle them for other projects around your home. Turning planks from your memory-filled wooden shed into a coffee table or bed headboard is good for the environment and the soul.

Choose a barn door with an extra two to three inches on either side of the frame. The width of the barn door will depend on the type and placement of your track, but in most cases, an additional inch or two will do the trick.
