Customers say: True professional

"We hired Truste Construction to finish our basement. We are very happy with the workmanship and quality of the finish. They did a fantastic job. Jeff and his crew were professional yet personable. As with any larger project, we ran into some issues. Jeff did a great job explaining the issue and advised us on ways to resolve them. He also made suggestions on ways to improve the design. We absolutely love the features he suggested. He worked hard to stay close the the original quote. His prices were very competitive. We made some changes as the project progressed which did push the cost a little higher. He handled all aspects of the project. He worked with the subcontractors and coordinated all of the scheduling. The project took a little longer than originally planned, but Jeff kept us informed on everything that was going on as the project progressed. We enthusiastically recommend Truste Construction."

"The Basement Company North finished our basement and added a fireplace in our home. The team always kept us notified on the schedule and kept a very clean worksite even with all the construction. They were always quick to respond to our questions and we love the finished work they did. We would definitely recommend The Basement Company North and will be using them on additional house projects down the road."

"Can't say enough about Jim Ruffin and his crew. They did a superb job on remodeling our basement, and they were the most recent after quoting several sources. We'll definitely hire them again."

"Hometown Construction was an excellent partner in the construction of my deck and basement remodel. Josh was professional, listened to my concerns and finished on time and on budget. His subcontractors emulated the same values and professionalism as Josh."

"I originally hired Emilio to remove popcorn ceiling ,re-texture and paint. I was really impressed with the work they performed. In fact, because of the great job they did, I had them install new doors for and and also re-texture one of my bathrooms. The price was reasonable, they were always on time, they kept me updated on where they were with each project. I plan on hiring them again to do more work in my home."

"Steve and his team were very professional, knowledgeable and flexible with every aspect and detail with regard to finishing our basement. Steve took the time to work with us on selecting final plans and features that all turned out great. It was a couple of years ago when Steve?s team completed the work so we?ve had some time to live in the new space and have enjoyed it very much. I would strongly recommend them for basement and bathroom remodeling."

"Andy and his dad did a great job on the trim work of the house. They even fixed up some other things, like doors that weren't closing properly. They had to come back to finish up some of the work but were prompt in doing so. Andy always had great communication and was very helpful throughout the process. Would definitely hire them for another project in the future."

"Kell did a great job! He was on time and worked efficiently to get the job done. He cleaned up after the work was completed and even went above and beyond by taking care of the mess the leaking sink had left on the cabinet floor. I will be calling on Cransten handyman and remodeling for my future needs."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Kitchens and bathrooms are typically the most expensive rooms to renovate. The high cost is due to several factors, including expensive appliances like ranges, hoods, and refrigerators, as well as costly fixtures. The 'bones' of the room, such as electrical and plumbing, are also expensive to move or replace. Because of the vast amount of prep work, finishing, and specialized labor involved in a relatively small footprint, these projects can cost double or more than a living space remodel. Even when trying to renovate on a budget, kitchens and bathrooms will likely carry a hefty price tag.

Yes, most general contractors require an initial down payment. A reasonable deposit is typically between 10% and 25% of the total project cost, although this can vary by project size and location. This upfront payment helps the contractor cover initial costs like materials, permits, licensing, and hiring subcontractors. The remaining balance is usually billed according to a schedule outlined in your contract, often tied to project milestones or completion dates. Be cautious of contractors who ask for a large deposit of 50% or more, as this could be a red flag for a scam.

Renovation enhances functionality, increases home value, and can add new space for personal or family needs. It typically modernizes older unfinished basements for new uses.

Basements are commonly converted into game rooms. The potential challenges you may run into include controlling moisture, working with low ceilings, limited natural light, and the need for additional electrical or HVAC work. Addressing these issues can add to the total cost, but it ensures a comfortable and functional space.

You should always use high-quality lumber for your framing in order to ensure it will last the test of time and resist moisture. Use 2-foot by 4-foot lumber that is pressure-treated for your framing.
