"I couldn’t be happier with the results of our backyard renovation. The backyard looks great, and the additional shade has us spending more time out there than before. Friends and neighbors have nothing but great things to say. The crew showed up on time, worked efficiently, and always left the site clean at the end of the day. Communication was smooth throughout the process. If you’re looking for a landscaping company that delivers high-quality work and truly cares about their clients, I highly recommend these guys!"

"Tamara helped remodel two bathrooms, one powder bath in 1 day! She was amazing helping pick paint and wallpaper and found all my fixtures 1/10 of the price of expensive designer versions. She was prompt to all my questions, and exceeded all my expectations. I am excited to have her help with a few more rooms soon. 6 stars for she and her crew"

"Mr. Hernandez was extremely professional. I contacted him for some electrical work. He came out to my house. I explained what I needed and wanted (new lighting) he told me exactly what needed to be done. He also Suggested some ideas also to make sure code was met. He quoted me a price with material and labor. He set up a time and day for the project. He started and finished on time. Was extremely professional easy to work with and I will be using this company again. Happy customer"

"Very good overall work quality on the sprinkler repair. I'm very satisfied! Although with all the recent rain, ironically I haven't been using the system much yet this season. Tried to give Northern Lights additional opportunity to bid on landscaping work in my back yard, but never received an estimate. I reminded James a few times, but finally gave up, figuring you're too busy this season to take on the project. Incidentally, I mailed the final $90 payment today for the sprinkler work today (sorry for the delay). - Greg Hansen"

Lighting questions, answered by experts

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

If your lights are shorting out during rain storms or other winter events, you should probably replace them. These shorts indicate electrical issues that could cause serious hazards. Look for outdoor-rated lights with connectors made for rainy conditions to replace them. But if your Christmas lights are new and you want further protection, you can find weatherproof covers to add to the male-end connectors of your Christmas light strings. These can minimize the risk of shorts.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.

Testing tools, such as Christmas light testers, non-contact proximity electrical testers, and multimeters, all simplify the process of testing Christmas lights. However, without one or more of those tools, testing Christmas lights the old-fashioned way only works sometimes. Without testing tools, the simplest testing method is visual inspection, which may or may not yield positive results.

The lifespan of a pool light depends on the type, but thankfully, these lights are designed to last a long time before they need to be replaced. LED bulbs last the longest, about 20,000 to 30,000 hours, while incandescent bulbs last the shortest amount of time, about 1,000 to 5,000 hours. Fiber optic pool lights will last around 6,000 hours.
