"K & L Tiles retiled the shower walls and floor in my secondary bathroom. The tile work is impeccable! Nick goes above and beyond to provide superior results. His prices are very reasonable, he is punctual and responsive, and left things clean and tidy afterwards. I would not hesitate to recommend Nick and K & L Tiles to anyone looking for quality tile work!"

"Looking to remodel a bathroom and do new floor and shower tile? Would you like a heated floor system installed with your new floor? Do you want a company that communicates each step of the way? How about an owner who cares about quality, doing a good job, customer service, and very personable? How about a remodeler who charges appropriately for the scale and complexity of your job? Well, Premier Tile and Stone, LLC based in Castle Rock, CO is your company. I hired Premier Tile and Stone, LLC to do the tile work in my master bathroom remodel. The owner, Bruce Thorsen, produced a detailed, line-item quote, came to my house to measure and validate everything, provided instruction on the quantity of materials I need to buy (tile square footage, grout, etc.), recommended other contractors he has worked with before to do some framing, demo, and drywall work that was needed, and frequently stopped by to check on progress and owner satisfaction. Bruce was amazing to work with. Marcelo did a great job at installing all my tile and always reached out to me to let me know if his schedule changed. Marcelo was also very conscientious about his work and you could tell that he takes pride in what he does. We used Bruce's recommendation for doing some framing, baseboards, drywall, and painting, and Armando, Carlos, and Efrain again all did amazing work. Carlos was meticulous at painting everything and Efrain is a wizard at doing drywall texturing and blending it with existing walls. I can't recommend Premier Tile and Stone, LLC enough and will not hesitate to use them again."

"I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Grout Medic. We had a horrible time of getting our grout repaired and luckily we found this company. After having 2 other companies do a terrible job we found that third time is the charm! Jesus came and gave a quote. Jesus was punctual, honest, gave great explanations and gave us a great quote. Carlos came and actually did the work. He was also punctual, honest, a hard worker, his attention to detail was great and I am so happy with the job. He also wore shoe covers which I really love and put a tarp down keeping things very clean. If you are needing tile or grout work, you need to hire this company!!"

"Many companies have a minimum they will have to charge for them to come out. This company's minimum happened to be $750 and the repair only cost $450. But they were so willing to work with me that we ended up being able to re-grout the shower as well and that brought the total up to the desired amount and they even gave me a discount so the final amount was only about $730 or so. They did amazing work and did so quickly. They turned my creaky stares into quite clouds of freshness that I get to walk up and down daily. My only complaint is that I wasn't able to give a tip to the actual flooring guy because the ticket was closed after the tile guy came through. They both deserved it and I will be using Wagner Floors for all of my future repairs and re-carpeting."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

No, you don’t need to remove the old grout before installing new tile over existing tile. In fact, the old grout helps fill in gaps between tiles, creating a more even surface for the new layer. However, it's important to ensure that the grout is clean, solid, and free of cracks or crumbling areas. Damaged grout should be repaired or replaced before proceeding. Cleaning the surface thoroughly and filling any low spots will help the new adhesive bond properly and ensure a smooth, stable installation.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.
