"Nick installed tile in three bathrooms. It is obvious he is a true craftsman. He has a great attention to detail borne out of years of experience and concern for the quality of his work. His finished product is just that - finished, and done to our satisfaction. Each bathroom was clean and needed no significant follow-up by us. He knew how to lay out the patterned tile in the master bath to get the best affect. He got his equipment out of the way each night so as to minimize disruption. He was very helpful in consulting on types of materials and styles. He is worth the price."

"Jimmy and Gregg were great. As others have already stated (and I agree) Jimmy is a magician and an artist with tile. In addition to that, he offered excellent ideas on our project that we would never have thought of, creating a high-end look, and his attention to detail is as accurate as an engineer's. Every time he does a job for us (he did other floor and kitchen tile work for us 6 years ago) I'm amazed at his ability to work within a challenging situation (uneven floors or walls for example) and make something beautiful. We were particularly stunned with the fireplace work, where he used a rough travertine stacked stone as the surround and a darker ceramic tile for the hearth. He and Gregg were modest, saying that our choice of a great tile was a big factor, but really you need a skilled installer, and Jimmy and Gregg were truly spectacular. And to top it off, they are sooo easy to be around, and just plain good guys. Sadly due to the need for caution in the "year of COVID-19" we couldn't hug at the end of the job, but maybe next time. (Speaking of COVID-19, they were also excellent at respecting our wish to be careful (with humor all-around), by wearing masks and taking other precautions.)"

"I hired Premier Tile and Stone to remodel our bathroom. They were very professional, completed the job in time, and were very price competitive. This was certainly my best experience ever in dealing with a contractor. I would use them again and highly recommend their services to anyone looking for tile installation."

"I am very pleased with the work performed by Grout Medic. I had a missing tile in my master bathroom floor. A friend was supposed to fix it for us, but after many months and many excuses, the tile had not been replaced. After listing our house, it was imperative the tile be replaced. Grout Medic was quick to respond. The tile was replaced, and in addition, they regrouted the shower pan and around the bathtub, and cleaned the shower tiles. It looks great! I will call them again should I ever need my tiles cleaned or an area regrouted."

"We are so pleased with our new hickory hardwood flooring. We replaced all of the carpet on our main floor with this hardwood. A fairly large job that covered 1200 SF. From our initial visit with Matt, we felt very comfortable choosing ProWorks. Matt took the time to help us understand our options which was so helpful. Jennifer was so nice to work with in scheduling and coordinating our project. ProWorks also works with a moving company to move all our furniture to the garage and move it back in at the end of the job. The install team was excellent. Many thanks to Anthony and his team of excellent installers. Highly recommend ProWorks!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Replacing tile flooring can take a few days for a pro, but larger rooms will need more time. It takes eight to 12 hours for a tiling pro to remove old grout and tiles across 100 square feet. Then, it will take about four hours to prep the subfloor for tiles and another eight to 10 hours for a pro to install new tiles. Your tiling project may take up to a week, depending on the size of the room.

Professional installation ensures a uniform, durable surface, and proper sealing, and guarantees workmanship quality, preventing future issues linked to water damage or instability.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.
