"The work was performed quickly and efficiently. The tree was safely felled away from the house and then chopped up using chain saws. The stump was ground down below the ground, so it is no longer visible. The branches and trunk were completely removed from my yard. The area was completely cleaned so someone could not even tell that a tree had been there. I would definitely hire them again. Finally, their price was one-third of another Angie's list tree service I obtained a quote from, which was nice."

"I highly recommend this Tree Service. I submitted my request through Angi and received 5 bids for removing 6 tall palm trees from my front and back yard. I selected Monticello Tree Service and am glad I did. They were on time, professional and cleaned up after they were done. I would definitely hire them again."

"They provided the best bid out of the 3 companies I had do quotes. Had a little hiccup with truck mechanical breakdown but Anthony got the job scheduled in two visits to complete. The crew was fast and cleaned everything up afterwards. They even chipped some branches my husband trimmed off a smaller tree at no extra charge. I definitely would recommend Yosca to anyone needing tree service done."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The depth of tree roots depends on the species. Trees like oaks and maples can have root systems that grow down 20 feet or more. However, trees that grow in shallow soils will have roots that go only a few feet down. Research how your tree species grows in your climate area to estimate root depth.

If you don’t stake a tree that needs support, it could be at greater risk of being damaged or failing completely, whether it uproots or falls over. That could cause damage to your property or other surrounding trees. If you want to grow healthy trees, you may need to stake them for best results.

Palm trees are unique in that their roots don't grow straight down; they grow horizontally. Typically, palm tree roots go down between 12 and 36 inches deep. The roots grow far and wide from the base of the palm tree to absorb as much water and soil nutrients as possible. In addition, the horizontal roots are also very strong—keeping palm trees stable and helping them sway during storms.

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

Trimming your palm trees once or twice per year keeps them healthy and robust. Caring for palm trees includes cutting off brown leaves to prevent wildfires and pathway obstruction. However, you don’t want to over-trim the palm tree. Cutting too many branches off will weaken the tree and prevent future growth. And it’s essential to have a strong, healthy palm tree during hurricane season to prevent safety risks or property damage.
