Customers say: Quality work

"The project from design to install to completion was superior. The Benty Team arrived on time or early every day; worked often times well past the end of the day; was very familiar with what was to be done each day; resolved unexpected problems; and left the site clean and safe each day. The work was done on time. All material installed surpassed what was expected. The yard (front and back) is the most beautiful in the neighborhood. Everyone was so friendly, that we actually do miss them. Hire Benty's Landscaping. YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY THAT YOU DID !!!!!"

"I had 4 very large oaks trimmed in a hard to reach area. They had industrial equipment and a 4 man team. Phenomenal, professional job. Safely removed limbs and had me inspect as they went to make sure they were cutting far enough for my liking. They raked, cleaned up piles and mulched branches. Left my house, nice and neat with a new "haircut". Couldnt be more impressed with their service. Bonus, my neighbor saw their work, loved it and they stayed later trimming her trees. They were eager and happy to work. They were tree perfectionist! Great job guys! Kyle"

"It was all we expected. I will recommend them to others. There is one time that they're working that time on me. He received a call that needed their service. He came in even he is 80miles far. He was able to take care of the dangerous tree that no other tree service wants to take off."

"Matt was extremely easy to work with! He was 5-10 minutes early for both estimate and tree removal. He gave me an estimate on Friday and came back Monday to do trimming. He came & asked me to check out what he had done & to see if he missed anything. He completed trimming & totally cleaned up after. I highly recommend him to anyone needing tree trimming, he also cleaned up all my broken branches!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.

The felling notch you make before you make the final cut will determine which way the tree will fall. The cut will be in a wedge or triangle, and the tree will fall from the highest point of the triangle. You can use this, as well as the process described above, to estimate where a tree will fall.

Finding a reliable arborist starts with researching specialists in your area and checking their licensing and certifications. Use online resources like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to conduct research on each company. Next, contact the arborist and ask the following questions to see whether they are the right fit for your project:

  • Do you handle or specialize in dealing with the issue I’m having?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Do you have customer references I can call?

  • Do you have any third-party certifications?

  • What equipment and strategies do you plan to use?

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.
