"I didn't want to write this review, because he's going to be harder to book (especially knowing how hard it is to find a decent handyman in Reno ). He responded to my phone call & texts in a reasonable amount of time, arrived on the nose, had all the tools required for the job, did an excellent installation in exactly the time alloted, and did not waste unnecessary time chitchating ."

DML Fence & Deck Company #1121449 started in Danville, CA in the late 80’s working with a local Nursery Company, Developers (Commercial) and Single-Family Homeowners (Residential). The Company officially went independent in 1993 and continued through present day. Commercially we contracted for entire sub-divisions to install all the front yards to individual homes along with the access points and entrances to include large-scale Country Clubs (e.g. Blackhawk C.C.) as well. In 2003, we established State-wide Contracts with Insurance Carriers to Repair & Install Fences (Wood, Iron & Vinyl). In 2010, we began to expand our offering into Block Walls (Masonry & Retaining). In 2017, we became a Preferred Vendor for Construction Loans with U.S. Bank and built several homes in the South Bay (Los Gatos to Gilroy) from $1.5M to 3.0M. In 2019, we migrated to the Sacramento area focusing on Detached Garages and Granny Homes under 1,200 Sq. Ft. We offer extreme diversity to limit the number of Sub-Contractors necessary for any project while maintaining high quality and competitive pricing, so you (the Homeowner) end up with your vision of what your property should look like at a reasonable Cost. We have multiple licenses: C-13 (Fencing), C-27 (Landscaping) & B (General Building). As of today (2025), our focus is primarily Fences, Decks and detached Garages/ADU's. We will consider custom projects that incorporate those skills!

"Excellent work, fence looks perfect! "

"Quality of work okay at times. Does a lot of googling on how to do things. Will cover up dry rot damage or mold damage needs to be checked up on. Especially when it comes to dry rot and mold damage and drywall repairs and insulation of windows. Needs to hire people to do those jobs and then lets them go. Be careful. He only has his handyman license, not a contractor's license."

We are a land management company specializing in brush clearing, mulching, fire mitigation, and hazardous or unwanted tree removal as well as tree care, including chipping and clean-up. We also perform the following: - stump grinding - property maintenance - creating defensible space - grading - fire abatement

"This is a top tier company. They rescued us from a large downed oak tree blocking our driveway the morning after a major storm. They arrived within 15 minutes of my call, were reasonably priced and did a perfect job beyond my expectations. I will definitely call them again for some other projects that need attention."

Dirty Werk Handyman Service LLC (Licensed and Insured) was formed in 2016 in an effort to provide any service required by Homeowners, Realtors, Property Managers and anyone else tired of having to do those nasty jobs around the home or office. Whether large or small we are a solutions based company skilled in all facets of construction, inside and out of your home. We look forward to handling all your "Dirty Werk" Brian Perry Owner/Founder

"STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. The company committed to do the work they were not capable of doing, and did not even have the legal right to do in California without a contractor's license. It was replacing deck railings and rebuilding a porch in South Lake Tahoe. The owner was polite and friendly before I started paying him the money, but totally changed later and kept demanding more money. The cost of the job, not too low to start with kept going up all the time, finally increasing by more than $10K. The owner would refuse to continue working if I did not pay more and more money upfront. He also refused to provide any receipts. After my single attempt to speak with the workers he snapped at me. The completion date was crucial in my case since I needed to finish the project before the winter season. The original completion date (end of September) kept moving forward as they worked very rarely and very short shifts (typically 10am to 3pm). During the entire course of the project there were constant excuses for not working (ill relatives, employees getting married, employees quitting etc.) Eventually the owner GUARANTEED the completion date of the project (mid-November) in exchange for an extra payment, but failed to deliver by the agreed upon date. I had to fire this company in the middle of November since I lost any confidence that the job would be completed and the quality would be acceptable. By the time I fired the company (3+ months into the project that was supposed to take less than 2 months): ■ deck railings were installed poorly - with a lot of cosmetic defects, uneven spacing and with a major safety hazard: they "forgot" to secure the top rail to the posts per manufacturers instruction; ■ the porch was demolished and the new one was not built. A crude frame was put in place but was so uneven and defective, it had to be rebuilt; ■ materials already paid for were not delivered (redwood), and the materials already delivered (trex flooring) were cut wrong and essentially destroyed. At that point I already paid this company $5000 above the initial invoice. The company owner disappeared and did not react to my request of a refund."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

How long a fence lasts, including a split rail fence, will depend on the material from which it’s made. The average lifespan of a wood fence is about 15 to 20 years. However, split rail fences made out of premium materials, like composite, vinyl, steel, or aluminum, can last for 25 to 30 years or more, especially if you take good care of the material and carry out necessary maintenance.

If you only use your gate as a pedestrian, walking through without a vehicle, you’re fine to stick with a single fence gate. If your fence opening needs to accommodate vehicles of any kind, from cars to trucks to 4-wheelers, then a double fence gate will suit the space much better and give you more freedom.

Electric fences use very little energy and shouldn’t cause any surprises on your next energy bill; You may only notice an extra couple of dollars on the bill. While electric fences don’t consume much energy, they still need it. If you have a power outage after a storm, your electric fence will likely stop working.

Wood fences last an average of 15 years but can have a life span of 20 years or more depending on the type of wood used, your local weather, and how well you maintain it over the years. Pine fences will only last five to 10 years if untreated, but pressure-treated pine fences will get you to 20 years. Cedar’s natural resistance to the elements lends it to a remarkable lifespan of 40 years or more.

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.
