"We noticed a foul smell coming from one of the vents in our HVAC system. We turned the system off and called AC Dave. Dave sent Justin and James to troubleshoot the problem. They quickly found a tear in one of our ducts--and the remains of a dead rodent. They cut open the duct, cleaned it and resealed it. We had heat again, about an hour after they arrived. Very fast and competent service."

"My HVAC unit stopped producing heat so I called the folks at around the clock. They offered to come out the same day and after taking a look up on our roof determined it was a faulty control board. We talked a little about the lifespan of the unit and that while it was probably going to need to be replaced in the next 5 years or so, it made more sense to simply replace the board today. So he scheduled an appointment for the following day to come back with the replacement board. 1 day later and 15 minutes of work and I have heat again."

While all portable AC units will collect moisture as part of their cooling and dehumidifying process, whether and how often you need to drain them depends on what kind of unit you have and the natural humidity levels where you live. Unfreezing an AC unit is not a DIY project unless the problem is a dirty air filter. Changing out an air filter is easy for homeowners, but otherwise, trying to repair ductwork, refill refrigerant, or replace a blower fan motor are tasks best left to the pros. However, for older systems (nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifespan) or those with extensive damage, it is often more cost-effective to replace the entire AC unit. Mismatched coils in an older system can lead to inefficiency and future breakdowns, so a full replacement ensures optimal performance and avoids further costly repairs.
