"Brothers replaced every window in entire house around 6 years ago,. Excellent work! Recent (unusual) torrental rains resulted in leak in large picture window…they immediately inspected and sent a team to repair and also checked every window in the house to ensure they were okay. Very pofessional company and we highly recommend them."

"I cannot recommend Tony and his team highly enough. My windows leaked and I had tried several other contractors and handymen before calling Tony but they just couldn't stop the leak! TME arrived on time, were friendly, clean, and professional. Most importantly they stopped the leak! TME was so great that I have already used them on other jobs. I will use them again and recommend them to all of my friends!"

"Tim Marais came to my home and inspected my sliding door and windows, which had leaked in the recent major rains. He was extremely professional and honest. He explained to me that my problem was much less serious than I feared and that major work could easily be postponed. A number of other contractors that I had talked to had tried to sell me very expensive fixes. I will definitely call him again for future work."

"David, at CA Cabinets was great, he and his installers showed on time, they were carful to be neat and clean up after the job was done. We had 5 custom windows and a patio sliding door with a doggie door built in, very cool for my dog Max! They addressed any question that my wife or I had on the spot, great Quality & Service!!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

If the existing frame around the window sash is completely structurally sound, it's possible to save money by swapping out the sash for a new one instead of getting a new window. Keep in mind that it will be necessary to find a new sash that perfectly matches your existing window structure. In general, consulting a window pro to help you find the right match is the best way to ensure you're doing this project correctly.

Yes, every window needs a lintel. The lintel is necessary for redistributing the load above the window to the walls around the window. Windows aren’t meant to support a load, so lintels are an important part of a window installation. If you go to replace your windows and discover there are no lintels, you may need a window company or structural engineer to install lintels for your new windows.

The biggest disadvantages of low-E windows have to do with cost and, depending on your personal taste, appearance. Low-E windows cost more than traditional windows—typically between $300 and $1,000 per window, plus installation costs. Though they can save you money in the long run, low-E windows have a hefty upfront price tag. Additionally, low-E windows have a slightly different look than traditional windows. While some people don’t notice it, others say the low-E coating gives windows a hazy look.

Bifold windows work by using a track that allows panels to slide to the side and "stack" so they take up minimal space, leaving the largest opening. The sashes connect to each other with butt hinges or concealed hinges and to the window frame with the same type of hinges you’d find on a casement window. Some manual bifold windows also have casement stays or another piece of hardware to keep your windows in place when they’re open.

In most cases, you should get your windows cleaned one to two times annually, although you might want to complete this task more often if you live in an area with heavy pollen or heavy rain or snowfall that soils your windows. It’s also a good idea to hire a professional window cleaning service if you’re listing your property, as sparkling windows will make a big difference in terms of curb appeal and, potentially, your home’s value.
