"The place sparkled! The cabinets...out and especially inside...looked like new! All they wanted to know from me was whether there was anything more they could do, anything they had overlooked. What could I say? I'm a perfectionist but their work was beyond perfect. In fact, my general contractor, who oversaw the multi-day work, was so impressed with the cleaning company and the owner that he is going to regularly use them on projects he does. When one professional like the work of another one that much, that is a terrific recommendation."

Small jobs welcome

"The project went better than expected. Dave was punctual, and very helpful with both my refrigerator install and connecting waterlines. I felt comfortable with him in my home. Dave was refreshingly honest and referred me to a dependable source to work on a project that was outside his expertise. I appreciate his willingness to accommodate me on a weekend."

"It took us time to find a contractor. We got over Six quotes only two contractors actually sent us a bid. Ben was very responsive. He sent us the quote within a week from the visit. We were very satisfied with the process. We were always in the know. We have done renovations In the past with contractors and we were always not pleased with not knowing the schedule. We finally found someone we can trust and will definitely be using him again. Thank you again Ben it was a pleasure meeting you and working with you."

Customers say: Quick response

"We had a number of repair and upgrade projects to do in our house and started searching for a contractor in March. We received bids from three different companies, but none of them followed through with a contract. Finally, in July, we received a recommendation for Remodels and Repairs On Demand and they turned out to be outstanding. Charles provided a detailed bid and was very flexible when we requested a couple of changes, even after the work had started. They stayed on schedule and kept us informed with each step of the process. Charles and his team from Repairs and Remodels On Demand were honest, polite, punctual, very well organized, easy to work with and finished the job on time. We are very pleased with their work and would highly recommend this company to others."

"The project was a small one, with a few "bumps in the road" but the end result is good. The workers were courteous and hard-working and left the project neat each day. We would definitely recommend Shawn Murphy and CDS to others seeking remodel work."

"Juan and his team were absolutely fantastic! From the start, he took the time to provide a thorough and honest estimate. He carefully inspected every part of the project to identify any issues before quoting—unlike other contractors I spoke with who were rushed, unprofessional, and gave me overpriced, unreasonable quotes without even taking a proper look. I was working with both a budget and a tight timeline, and Juan not only respected both—he finished the job three days early and delivered outstanding results! Juan is incredibly kind, respectful, dependable, and hardworking. He was transparent throughout the entire process, keeping me informed about his progress and any updates. I initially hired him for a bathroom remodel and a patio repair, but his work impressed me so much that I had him take care of several additional handyman tasks afterward. I’m truly impressed with the quality and care he puts into his work and will absolutely be hiring him again for future home projects."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

Metal stud framing parts include the studs themselves, upper and lower tracks that act as top and bottom wall plates, various angle fasteners and clips, screws for fastening pieces togeher, metal straps, c-channel supports, and thicker steel supporting structures. Roof framing metal components include pre-fabricated trusses, heavy-gauge stud pieces, and various plates and fasteners.

Installing a tongue-and-groove wall requires similar techniques to those associated with installing shiplap. However, because of the precision necessary to make each board fit perfectly and the increased material prices, the cost is higher than that of shiplap installations. Expect to spend between $2 and $6 more per square foot for tongue-and-groove walls versus shiplap ones.
