"The quality of drywall and texturing work was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I called on a Friday afternoon and the work was performed the following Monday, just three days later, even though it was on a holiday (Memorial Day)! 1st Choice Drywall, Inc. will be my first choice for any future drywall needs. "Sergio made two drywall repairs for me. First, the living room ceiling where a water leak had damaged the drywall in four places. Second, a cutout in the bedroom wall adjacent to the garage where I had installed an air conditioner temporarily. Sergio explained what he was doing and was careful to clean up when the jobs were complete. The drywall had different textures in the two places, and he was able to match the textures exactly! Even now, before painting, it is impossible to see where the repairs were made. His quote was reasonable, and he stood by this quote when the job was finished. Sergio has been doing drywall for over 40 years, but he still takes pride in his work and tries to do the best possible job."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A jigsaw is commonly used to cut holes in drywall. It offers versatility and precision, making it suitable for creating circular or irregular openings. When equipped with the right blade, a jigsaw can swiftly and cleanly cut through drywall, making it a good choice for DIY projects.

How you hang the drywall can affect the finishing process. It's often easier to finish horizontal drywall panels, as the seams run across the wall rather than up and down. Standard drywall panels are 48 inches wide, so the seam is easy to reach without bending down or stretching your arms.

Cracks, holes, water damage, and dents from heavy equipment often require repair.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.
