"Robert Soto from Blue Bolt Electric removed my old hanging lights over my kitchen bar and replaced with new hanging lights! Robert is very professional, prompt, and did an excellent job. I am very satisfied with the job he did. He also replaced my bathroom heater fan which will be completed after Wednesday when it will get patched up around the fan since it was smaller than my ancient old one that was beyond repair."

"I couldn't be more impressed with their work. From start to finish, the experience was flawless. They arrived on time, were incredibly professional, and took the time to fully explain the job before getting started. The quality of their work was top-notch!! They not only fixed the issues I was dealing with but also made several helpful recommendations to improve the overall electrical setup in my home. They worked efficiently, kept the work area clean, and ensured that everything was tested and functioning perfectly before they left. On top of that, their pricing was fair and transparent with no hidden fees. It's rare to find such reliable and skilled service these days, and I would absolutely recommend That's Right Electric to anyone in need of electrical work. I'll definitely be calling them for any future projects!"

"Where other companies just assumed a generic installation, Walter Electric spent a lot of time planning a customized arrangement that worked best for our particular layout. They gave more options and suggestions, and it made all the difference in the end. I would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking about lighting installation!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, a dead outlet can be dangerous and may cause a fire. The lack of power can be due to a hazardous electrical issue that poses a fire risk. If you notice a burning smell, discoloration, or sparks from a non-working outlet, it is a serious issue. It is vital to have a professional electrician investigate and fix the problem as soon as possible.

Installing a circuit breaker is best handled by a local professional electrician. This project requires following strict electrical codes, and might even involve permits. Not only can electrical work be dangerous, but without the proper training that a pro will have, you could cause further damage to your home’s electrical system.

How far you can run underground electric depends on the wire gauge (generally AWG) and the circuit voltage. Too much voltage drop in an electrical circuit can negatively affect performance, so the smaller the voltage drop, the better. Ideally, it shouldn't exceed 3%. The smaller the wire and the longer the run, the more significant the voltage drop.

For example, with a 120-volt circuit, you can run 60 feet of 12 AWG cable without losing more than 3% voltage. With a 240-volt circuit, you can run 120 feet of 12 AWG wire while maintaining a voltage drop of 3% or less.

Electrical fixes are best handled by a licensed electrician, but it’s possible to release a wire connection on your own. Be sure to always turn off the power to the outlet at the circuit breaker before beginning your project to avoid electric shock. Carefully insert the tip of a flat screwdriver into the rectangular hole beneath the wire. Hold the outlet in the palm of your other hand. Pull out the wire as you apply pressure with the screwdriver.

You can distinguish the amplitude and voltage of most outlets by looking at the shape and positioning of the holes. Other features like buttons, switches, and USB ports help identify electric outlets, too. Use labeled images, like the ones we’ve included above, to cross-reference with your outlets.
