"We were always dreaming about a new kitchen that will be bigger then what we had in the past that we can entertain our guests. We had several estimates from contractors that told us that we cannot enlarge our kitchen because our property is on a hill side then we saw a sign in the neighborhood of U.S Home Developers and we were thinking let’s take one more estimate before we would start looking into buying a new home we met Tom that weekend and we were amazed from how knowledgeable and experienced he was Tom gave us ideas that no one else mentioned before to us. Our recent experience with Patios by B&B has been so astounding we feel compelled to share it with fellow Angie's List subscribers and to sing their praises.

We had been contemplating remodeling our 320 sq. ft patio since moving in to our condominium in 2010. This year we decided it was finally time to complete the project as we had successfully saved the funds to do so.  We solicited bids from 4 contractors, all of which are listed here on Angie's List. After getting bids from 3 of them, which is not atypical in the world of dealing with contractors, we ultimately decided on Patios by B&B even though their written bid was not the lowest nor was it the highest.  The primary motivation for our decision was the A+ rating with the Los Angeles Better Business Bureau, high score and accolades from the other reviewers on this website.

Jeff Goldman from Patios by B&B was the consummate professional starting with our initial contact, through project completion. We contacted Jeff, and yes he answered his phone and returned calls promptly, and within 2 days we were meeting with him in our home to discuss the options for our patio remodel. Jeff helped us with everything from materials, timing and budget.  We laid out a plan and he drew up a contract.  Jeff was extremely busy given the Spring season so the contract was not drawn up as quickly as we would like however, upon receipt of it, we were very pleased with the level of detail. The contract included the scope of work down to the volume of dirt to be excavated, what material would be used for the base, screed and pavers, the payment schedule and even the pitch of the pavers to allow for proper drainage. 

For our second consultation, Jeff brought with him the contract to sign as well as samples of the  pavers we had selected. Seeing the samples in person as opposed to just in the catalog is important as lighting has a huge effect on appearance.  This was an important and nice touch of customer service.  After signing the contract, we agreed on a start date and time.
Jeff assigned Gabrielle as the foreman for this project and we could not have been happier.  Gabrielle and his crew were very courteous, professional, hardworking, diligent, clean and meticulous.  Due to the  configuration of our patio - located between the house and the garage - access to the patio was cumbersome.  The team however did not bat an eyelash or complain once during the entire installation when they traversed the 6 stairs up and down from the patio to garage to remove the rocks, concrete and debris from the old patio by the bucket load. They even had to bring in the base and screed by buckets. The entire process was done fast and efficiently, within 3 days from start to finish including sealing the pavers.  They left the areas they worked in everyday, our patio and garage, in better condition than when they arrived.
There was a slight set back during the project, which is something we're accustomed to from our other home improvement endeavors.  Something that we are not accustomed to however is the response from Jeff and Patios by B&B.  Our past experience has been that when problems arise on a project that's usually when the contractor starts jacking up the cost; sticking it to the client. But that is far from what happened in this case with Jeff and Patios by B&B. Jeff's experience, commitment to customer satisfaction and being the best outdoor remodeling specialist in SoCal really shined.  Jeff came in and took care of it all and played interference with the various parties involved to rectify the situation.  It was at this point in the project that we were convinced we made the right selection in contractors to remodel our patio.
Jeff stood behind everything he promised us beginning with the first phone call to schedule an in-home consultation through final payment and inspection.  He contacted us when he said that he would, started and completed the project within the timeframe he committed to, was available at all hours of the day and night and above all, honored his quote.

We are very discerning and skeptical consumers when it comes to contractors, having been burned one too many times, and are pleased to report that Jeff Goldman and Patios by B&B stood up to, and in some cases, exceeded our high standards. Although on paper the bid from Patios by B&B was in the middle of all the bids received, the value of their customer service far surpassed the other bids. Patios by B&B is an exceptional company and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for top quality work and exceptional customer service!  It?s too bad they only specialize in outdoor remodeling; we wish we could use them for all of our home improvement projects!
