"Quick response with quote, which was really reasonable. They were able to complete the project right away. I had them remove glued down wood flooring, which is really difficult. A couple hours after they arrived the area was cleaned and ready for install. Will hire again for other projects."

Customers say: Quick response

"I received two other estimates before contacting Home Advisor and thus Rene from Environmental... I knew from the moment that I spoke to Rene that I liked him and would most likely hire him. He was presentable, listened to my ideas and then offered up some of his own for what he thought might look nice and work well for my project. He spent at least An hour here, taking measurements and plotting the job and returned the following day with his estimate. Rene was definitely not the cheapest however he was definitely the most thorough, precise and professional... He busted his butt over the next two weeks and knocked it out of the park! I will most certainly hire Rene again and will recommend him to my friends and family without a doubt... Thank You Rene!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The easier way to find buried sprinkler lines is to use the plan from the professionals who installed the system. If you don’t have professional plans, listen for running water on your lawn when you turn on the system. You may also spot wet areas, giving you an idea of where the heads are. Once you find the sprinkler heads, you’ll likely be able to connect the dots between them, revealing the system below.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

You can dig 60 to 80 linear feet by hand per day depending on the depth. Digging a 100-foot trench by hand will take you two work days, but it can take longer if you have heavy or rocky soil. If you’re digging a deep trench or one that’s over 100 feet, consider renting a mechanical trencher, such as a walk-behind or ride-on, or calling a pro for help.

Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.

A mini excavator can dig between 5 and 11 feet deep, depending on the type and size of the mini excavator. Mini hydraulic excavators are more powerful and can reach deeper into the earth, but electric models have a more limited range. Mini excavators over two tons in size are also more powerful and able to dig as deep as 11 feet.
