"I highly recommend Jose's Painting L.A. I contracted with them to paint my 2.5 story craftsman home with a lot of detail and they did a beautiful job. I loved the fact that I received a fast itemized quote so I knew exactly what to expect. The workers were all professional and courteous. Also the work area was cleaned up everyday before they left. I would definitely use them again."

"Excellent. Rick Jamison Painting did an amazing stain job on our new wood garage doors. They were able to sand and stain all our current gates to match back to new garage. Very professional, friendly and reliable company. I would highly recommend."

"We just had the exterior of our house painted & it looks fabulous! A couple of years ago the CertaPro team also painted the interiors which continue to look great. It really has been a pleasure to work with John Villar & his team on both projects. The process from start to finish went so well each time - great people, professional & such precise painting. We much appreciate all John's team did to make our home beautiful inside & out!"
Staining or painting kitchen cabinets can give your kitchen a brand new look without the cost of replacing the cabinets.
Stripes are popular and can be done in many different colors. Pink is just the right color for this little girl's nursery.
Painting the risers, banisters, and handrails on a stairway cn really make the difference in something that is often overlooked.
This modern home looks spectacular with the grey base color and stark white, contrasting the blue tinted windows.
This newer home makes great use of a popular earth tone color scheme, allowing the architectural features to stand on their own.

"It went extremely well. Mr. White gave me a great price. He came by the next day after agreeing on price and start date and power washed the entire house. Looked for repairs that may be needed as well. Told me his crew would be here the following morning at 7:00am they were here about 6:45 am. They started working quickly and efficiently at sanding, filling stucco, checking for things that needed attention. Then began the actual painting around 11:00am. They prepped by covering my neighbors vehicles a fence as well to ensure that there wasn't any paint flying away anywhere. Paid very close attention to detail. They finished late afternoon and cleaned up behind themselves. Left me extra paint as well. There is a four year warranty on the job too! Mr. White helped me with the decision of exactly what paints I wanted and they blend very well. I chose a nice gray with black trim and went big and had my doors painted a fire engine red! Saw a few things I wanted touched up when he was by on Friday for payment and he sent someone out that very day to take care of. The house was painted on a Wednesday. I would have figured that a contractor would have been waiting at my door on Wednesday afternoon for payment. He gave me plenty of time to walk around look at and make comment. Was an extremely easy experience. The entire crew was courteous and worked very hard all day!"

"I hired them to paint the front and side of the house. They did a good job on the side including stucco and most of the front. They did a poor job, not prepping hardly at all, my old front door, the main thing I told them I wanted to be done. They had to spend a whole day totally re-doing it and it was finally nice. What irked me the most is they poured the excess paint water onto my lawn and brickwork right near the front door! When I asked them to fix it, he did a poor job and the grass (about a foot square in the corner) will not grow back. I had pointed it out and the supervisor said it would be fixed. It was not. When I showed it to the worker when they were about to leave, he pushed the dirt around a little bit but it is still bad. I actually saw him clean the brushes onto the grass another place and the paint is still visible a few weeks later. I will also have to use paint thinner to clean the several bricks 6 feet from the front door that show the other paint water. The eventual job was nicely done after I would not accept the original work. Pouring paint water on my lawn and bricks was unacceptable. They were always prompt."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Painting or staining protects fences from environmental damage, enhances durability, and improves curb appeal with a fresh, customized look.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

You can only change your neighbor's fence with their permission. A neighbor's fence is their property, and altering it without their consent could constitute trespassing or property damage, which may have legal consequences. If you have concerns or disagreements about your neighbor's fence, communicate with them openly and try to reach a mutually agreeable solution. If you believe the fence violates local zoning laws or property regulations, consult with local authorities or seek legal advice to address the issue through proper channels.

On most untreated wood fences, there is no need to sand before treating. You typically only need to sand if there’s an old coat of paint or stain on your fence. If you do need to sand off a previous paint or protective coating (like an old stain or sealant), use medium-grit sandpaper.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths
