"VENTURA LANDSCAPE AND TREE SERVICE Inc did an outstanding job! The team was professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable from start to finish. They transformed my yard beautifully and paid attention to every detail. The crew worked efficiently, cleaned everything up afterward, and made sure I was completely satisfied with the results. Their pricing was fair, and the quality of work exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable landscaping and tree services. I will definitely be using them again in the future!"

"The best company ever! The crew arrived on time and went to work immediately. Richard was in charge of the crew. He did not stand around and supervise, he joined the workers in getting the job done. He asked us if we had any questions or concerns as they were working. What a professional crew. The cleaned up and left our place just as it was before they started. They protected our plants from any damage and made sure everything the work was to our satisfaction. We will definitely use Richard and Discount Tree Care Arborists again. Also, we did check them out and they had all the property liability and workers compensation insurance needed."

"They cut a huge podocarpus, it's roots beginning to crack house walls. They did a very good job on the tree but failed to cut thru the roots as they promised. They also agreed to do some landscaping, however, I never heard from them again."

"I have learned over the years if you want trees properly trimmed for looks and growth, hire a professional arborist. This is exactly what Kerry's Tree Service offers the customer. Mike Gallagher, arborist, came out, viewed my tree situation, then told me his recommendations and gave me an estimate within within 48 hours. after i talked to several other companies, I hired Kerry's with confidence the job would be done best if I used their services. I was correct. It took a crew of 5 men plus Mike Gallagher 4 hours to finish the job. They were professional all the way including final cleanup of my property at the end. All 3 trees look terrific and I look forward to seeing them after they fill out next Spring."

"House looked lovely when done.  Normally I have used Robert for sprinkler repair and maintenance.  He has also trimmed trees for me. He offered to paint the house and I let him to the job even though it is not his usual kind of work because I knew he would do good and careful work.

"We had a redwood tree cut down around 2 yrs ago and some pieces were left on our back porch. We were concerned about termites because we saw sawdust. Jorge came out and told us to get rid of the wood right away but if we didn't see swarms, not to worry about them getting in the house. Also, that the house is stucco and painted which helps to protect it. He did inspect the outside of the house but didn't see any problems. There was no charge and nothing needed to be done! He did offer preventative treatment for the attic but didn't push it. He was very professional and knowledgeable. Best of all, he didn't try to sell me something we didn't need. Will definitely use them again if we have problems."

His son, Robert B. Loibl, Jr., began working and learning from his father after school and on Saturdays. He later started the Lloyd Pest Control Company in San Diego, and was a partner with his father in L & N Pest Control. He also started the Ant-B-Gone Products Company in Los Angeles, California, and then the Pest Control Service Company and Hydrex Pest Control Co., Inc. in Los Angeles, California in 1946. As well as developing a very successful state wide franchise with Hydrex Pest Control, he also held a number of patents. He invented the B-Gone series of pest poisons that many remember, a vermin exterminator, and the Pestron machine for producing insecticidal vapor. He developed many of the methodologies used today. "I highly endorse this company. The owner was on site along with his workers. That doesn't ever happen! My trees look fabulous and they cleaned up every piece of wood dust and leaves. They showed up on time, asked me to look at everything to make sure it was up to my standards, and then left. Never had a better experience than this company. They are price friendly for those of us on a skinny budget. They even arranged their schedule to fit mine. Don't bother with those other high price companies when you have the opportunity to have the best with Escarates!!!!!"

"Great.  Ismael works so fast.  I am always surprised because my last landscaper seemed to drag things out over several days and was always calling his crew to other jobs.  Ismael doesn't do any of that.  His crew guys are really nice and polite.  Ismael is really easy going and always fair with his prices.  He's great with advice on fertilizing, planting, and mowing.  I contracted him based on so many good Angie's List reviews and they were correct.  I will always use him from now on.

"We used Torres Tree Services to cut back and shape several trees around our house. The trees were overgrown and needed some serious work. This company was extremely professional from the beginning. Their prices were better than several other quotes I got. They seemed very honest and made recommendations and suggestions, but were not pushy at all.

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best tool to cut trees is a chain saw. You can adjust your chain saw to the correct size based on the size of the branches, offering you the fastest and cleanest cut for medium- to large-sized trees. Depending on the type of chainsaw you use, you can cut through larger trees than you would with a more manual tool like an ax.

For small trees, tree removal should take just a couple of hours to complete. Assume that a mid-sized tree will take between four and eight hours, depending on the extent of the equipment required and the health of the tree. Remember to add up to two hours for stump removal. Larger trees could take as long as one or two working days, about eight hours each.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.
