Small jobs welcome

"Ivan was very fast and responsive, and luckily was able to come by to inspect on the same day I submitted an inquiry for a full yard cleanup. He was immediately attentive, pointing out the overgrowth of weeds for removal and the shrubbery/bushes that needed full-on pruning. He also was very considerate, asking if there were any plants that I wanted to keep or just do light trimming (which I did, since I have an orange tree and some tall rose bushes). He was able to give me a very reasonable quote and scheduled the cleanup for the following day. The front and back yards are now fresh and very well groomed - will definitely be calling Ivan for the next round of landscape maintenance!"

"I was very impressed with Daniel’s work. He showed up on time and knew how to fix my problem with the sprinkler system. He even checked out my entire irrigation system for free and suggested sprinkler locations. I would definitely recommend him if you are in need of landscaping or water system irrigation"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

You do not have to remove lead paint if the surface is not chipping or peeling or if there are no pregnant people or children under the age of six who live in or regularly visit your home. Lead paint is a particular risk for young children whose brains and bodies are not fully developed. Experts strongly recommend that you call a pro to remove lead paint if it’s peeling or flaking, no matter who lives in the home. You can experience lead poisoning by breathing in or ingesting just a small amount of it.

No. Standard homeowners insurance does not cover any kind of lead remediation, focusing instead on sudden, unpreventable events like fires and theft. Many insurance companies will specifically exclude lead paint removal, since it tends to be an expensive and unavoidable project. The exception is if the lead surface is damaged during a covered event (like a flood) and homeowners insurance pays its replacement.

If your roof was constructed between 1930 and 1970, there’s a possibility that the shingles contain asbestos. If that’s the case, you should hire a professional for repairs and replacement, as they’ll have the necessary equipment to stay safe from such a hazardous and cancer-causing substance. If your home was constructed after this period, it’s unlikely that the shingles in place are toxic. In most cases, asbestos shingles are not recyclable, while standard asphalt shingles are recyclable.

You can sell a house with lead paint, but there are several requirements. If you are aware that lead paint exists anywhere in the home, you must disclose that to potential buyers. Required home inspections will often uncover lead paint, especially for older houses where lead paint may still be a problem. If you have taken steps to encapsulate lead, you should provide buyers with full documentation of the project so it won’t cause any problems later on.

Professional lead-paint abatement companies use a variety of methods to remove lead-based paint, depending on each particular situation. Some of the most common methods include:

  • Total removal: $8–$17 per square foot

  • Demolition and replacement: $1,000–$15,000 per project

  • Encapsulation: $4 per square foot

  • Enclosure: $10 per square foot

  • Chemical stripping: $10–$17 per square foot
