"Very responsive. Plumber (Jenri) came on a Sunday morning and had everything fixed up in no time. Very reasonable cost, as well. Will definitely work with them again. Many plumbers with whom we have worked in the past have been of questionable quality and integrity. No similar concerns with Bill Metzger Plumbing!!!"

"The plumber was prompt, professional, and completed the issue with my toilet in about 30 minutes. The downside was it was an expensive repair due to the $300 service call fee for such a quick fix. The plus was that the Plumber took off $25 as a first time customer ($275 instead of $300), but with the tank parts the total fee was $325."

"I highly recommend Nick. He responded to my request for services within minutes after the sewer line backed up into the showers and toilets. He evaluated the situation the same day and discovered roots and breakage in the sewer piping. Nick explained everything in detail along with video of the sewer pipes and let us know what work was being performed every step of the way over the course of a 3-day job. Nick is professional, fair in pricing, and extremely knowledgeable. He and his team did a great job. He also left everything spotless and clean. A few weeks later, we needed a new toilet since the original one was very old, cracked and leaking. He responded to my request within minutes and made room in his schedule to install a new toilet the very same day. Thanks again for a 2 jobs well done!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Common mistakes in Orange County include neglecting to obtain required permits from the city building department, using unlicensed plumbers, and overlooking the need for earthquake strapping on water heaters. Homeowners sometimes choose incorrect pipe materials for local water conditions or ignore drainage issues related to clay soil. Addressing these factors early, as recommended by the Contractors State License Board, can help prevent costly repairs and ensure code compliance.

Helpful?

When hiring for plumbing in Orange County, always verify the plumber holds a current C-36 contractor license issued by the Contractors State License Board and carries proper liability insurance. Ask for references familiar with local plumbing codes and confirm business registration with the Orange County Clerk-Recorder. Check city permit records and reviews to ensure compliance with Orange County regulations, and avoid contractors requesting full payment upfront or lacking a physical address.

Helpful?

In Orange County, drain cleaning projects must balance function with aesthetics by preserving curb appeal, which is critical in many communities. Solutions are designed to complement prevalent architectural styles like Spanish or Mediterranean and work around common features like pools. All work must also meet California seismic safety standards and adhere to specific HOA architectural guidelines, ensuring both performance and visual harmony.

Helpful?

A common mistake during a drain cleaning project in Orange County is using the wrong DIY chemicals, which can react poorly with the region's hard water. Homeowners also frequently overlook strict HOA requirements or fail to get multiple quotes in the competitive local market. Another oversight is not considering seismic preparedness, as plumbing choices in CA must account for earthquake safety standards.

Helpful?

In Orange County, homeowners often encounter unexpected costs such as permit fees, code-required upgrades, and additional labor for accessing pipes behind finished walls or concrete slabs. Local hard water conditions can lead to corroded pipes, requiring more extensive repairs. If your property is in an HOA, you may need extra approvals. Consulting with your city's building department can help identify potential extra requirements before starting.
