"Michael loves glass and finds beauty in its many incarnations. He created an exquisite front door piece for my house 9 years ago. All that door has done is look gorgeous. Haven't had a lick of trouble with it. And, Michael repaired an old glass tile for me too -- at cost even -- because he appreciated it as much as I do. The company also made glass inserts for cabinet doors which are lovely - more banal than the dramatic entrance but equally trouble free. I would hire them again in a heart beat."

"I've had trouble with a sliding glass door for years.  I finally called Affordable Glass.  They came promptly and discovered that the door had rollers that were suitable for a light closet door.  They replaced the rollers and fixed the track.  Now the door rolls without any problem.  I wish I had called them 10 years ago."

"They did a great job. We were really impressed with how responsive they were - they came and gave us an estimate while the shower was still being built and installed the glass as soon as it was possible to do so - so there was no delay at all. Very happy with the end result."

"Chris is a hard worker who does quality work. He worked through the Holiday weekend. He replaced all the windows the first day and came back the next day to finish all the trim work. They were vinyl replacements for old aluminum windows. This is the second time we hired him. He replaced two large sliding glass doors for us 5 years ago, so not only would I hire him again but I did hire him again. We received 2 other quotes and Chris came in the lowest by far. He's basically a one man show which I think allows him to keep his overhead low and the savings is passed on to the customer. He uses Milgard windows and they look and work great. We looked at other products and the Milgard looked to be as good as any other. No regrets."

"They did an excellent job on the exterior and they did a good job on the kitchen but they was a miscommunication between us and the project manager about the paint color. They did a good job but it wasn't a perfect job. They did a fabulous job on the exterior painting of the house because it was a different project manager. The first guy Kevin who worked on the exterior painting was an excellent project manager. I might use them in future."

"we hired this company to remodel the exterior part of my our house we wanted the stucco and roofing to be done and we found them through an online search including angieslist. On our first meeting (after a short phone conversation), they brought several swatches of colors and stucco textures, which was excellent because we were egger to do the work right away. Our project manager Joe was very skilles and professional and was able to manage the working team in such a good way, that they were able to finish the whole project pretty fast. The team were very clean and they always protected the working areas outside in order to prevent any damages."

"Granted, the work isn't completely finished, but I wanted to update my review to post how impressed I am. Danny Gold and his crew just completed the tile install phase. They did an extremely complex "wood" tile pattern which looks beautiful in photos and EVEN better in reality. In addition, the bulk of the work and hassles and noise was done remotely while I was out of town. Luis was great an explaining things and even though I wasn't there, I felt everything would be handled with the utmost care and attention to details. Talk about trustworthy!!! Such a gift in a contractor. The tile work cost me a bit more than I expected, but the work was well worth it. They are handling all the extremely annoying inspections (City of Santa Monica slows everything so much!) My shower glass guy was super impressed with the precision of the bathroom. "Like laser crafted" In all, HIGHLY recommend their work!!"

"Where to start on how pleased my husband and I were with all the work that Nir did for us!  The porch was exactly what we had envisioned and constructed so well that even the building inspector said, "This guy did more than he had to.  I've never seen construction done so well."  Consequently my husband and I always say that if there's a big earthquake, we're heading for the porch!
The work team was punctual, polite, and never failed to clean up the site every day before they left.  Once they began, they worked every day until the work was finished (with the exception of two bad weather days).  The footing for the porch is done so well we could turn the porch into another room without having to alter the footing.  We have a small porch on the front of the house.  The back porch is 9 by 17 and we wanted it to match the one in front.  Nir found an iron worker who could match the design of the railing in the front which is original to the house built in 1950.  People who see the back porch now always think it's original to the house as well.  The roof is very well framed and braced, as we planned and since have installed solar panels on the porch roof.
The thing about Nir is that he "gets me".  He seems to intuit what I like style wise, and he is not happy until I'm happy.  He was right on in suggesting the market lights.  I have always wanted them but hadn't even mentioned them to Nir before he suggested them.  His electrical work is stellar.  Excellence and quality are Nir's benchmark.  He has no patience with people who do poor work or cut corners and he holds himself and those who work for him to very high standards.
We are planning more work, this time on the interior of the house.  I wouldn't call anyone else.  Nir is indeed my favorite contractor."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

New glass costs anywhere from $3 to $100 per square foot. More specifically, tempered and insulated glass—a common option for sliding glass doors—costs between $10 and $14 per square foot.

Glass block windows come in various patterns and styles that offer privacy and unique aesthetics. Frosted or textured glass diffuses light and enhances privacy. Wave-pattern glass blocks imitate ocean waves with flowing lines. Ice-glass blocks resemble cracked ice. Fluted glass blocks feature parallel vertical grooves, adding texture and depth. Clear glass blocks, similar to glass Coke bottles, offer transparency with some distortion and may have smooth surfaces or subtle textures, adding visual interest.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.
