Small jobs welcome

"We hired ABC Drywall for popcorn removal and skip trowel texturing of the ceiling. The finished product was excellent and the cost was very competitive. Tewah is a very sincere and trustworthy person. On the four days he was in our home, he showed up on time, was polite, and cleaned up after himself. I felt comfortable inviting him into my home and having him around my family. Given the opportunity, I would work with Tewah and ABC Drywall again. Thanks again, dude!"

"Juan did a great job meeting my drywall needs. I had a ceiling leak in a rental unit I own. After I did the mold remediation, Juan replaced the affected drywall and texture-matched to the surrounding ceiling perfectly."

"We're very pleased with the drywall repair/repainting job done by Dango Drywall. The two workmen handily repaired a 2 x 2 ft opening in our living room ceiling that resulted from water damage and subsequent plumbing repairs. They also repainted the affected area, after taking the trouble to shop for the shade of paint needed to closely match the rest of our ceiling. As others have mentioned, Dango Drywall worked both expertly and efficiently, completing the entire job in less than 3 hours. And all for a very reasonable price!"

"Elite Drywall performed two open ceiling repairs damaged by water and subsequent plumbing work. They replicated the texture perfectly. The job performed was on an income property. They are now my "go to" service provider for future repairs and painting."

"Hector and his son are very pleasant and easy to work with. I asked them to be complete by a certain date and they actually finished a little earlier. I highly recommend them and their cost is reasonable. If I need other drywall work done I would readily call them again"

"Israel was extremely professional, communicated well and the job he did was top-notch. He repaired a poorly done ceiling drywall that was initially damaged due to water leaks. He completed the job in 2 days as he promised and his rates were very reasonable. I would highly recommend him for all drywall needs."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Popular wall textures include orange peel, knockdown, spray sand, and smooth finishes. Orange peel and knockdown are particularly common choices for drywall as they are simple and cost-effective. Orange peel texture has a lightly bumpy surface resembling the skin of an orange, while knockdown (sometimes called knockout) looks like a stucco finish with flattened high spots. In contrast, popcorn texture has fallen out of fashion, partly due to its past association with asbestos and a shift toward more restrained interior design styles.

Drywall can be installed directly on ceiling joists. In fact, this method is common in many construction projects. Drywall sheets are attached to the joists using screws, ensuring a secure and stable installation. Before attaching the drywall, it's important to mark the joist locations on the ceiling, allowing for accurate screw placement. Proper spacing between screws and careful taping and mudding of joints are crucial to creating a smooth and flawless ceiling surface. If the joists are in good condition and level, installing drywall directly on them is a practical and efficient approach.

There are a few ways to figure out if your walls are plaster or drywall, but the pushpin method is probably the easiest option. To try it, choose a part of your wall where you can insert a pushpin or thumbtack without leaving an obvious mark. If it goes in easily, you have drywall. But if the wall is tough to penetrate, that’s plaster.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

Plaster provides a durable, soundproof, and moisture-resistant finish compared to drywall.
