Small jobs welcome

"Tewah did an amazing job. He was very professional, reasonable and had the best side manners. My place was spotless after he got done removing the popcorn ceiling, he made sure of that. I wish all contractors were as honest and helpful as he was. Thank you again for helping me get this job done. I will definitely pass the word around my neighborhood."

"I've used Apex Premier for both Stucco and Drywall work over the years on my house, big projects to small repairs and patches. The work is high quality, well organized, and well thought out. You will always get an honest answer from them. The communication is the best in the biz, the attention to detail is the best in the biz. I wish I could find this commitment to work from all contractors, but that is just not the case at all, quite refreshing."

"Tom was my project manager and he did an exceptional job of staying in contact with me and overseeing the work. The contractor whom he oversaw seemed to want to do a minimal level of quality to finish the assignment and several times Tom had to intervene at my request to get the work done right. But they did a wonderful job in the end and I am very pleased. I would DEFINITELY use LAR Construction again and would recommend them."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

How long it takes to repair a ceiling depends on the extent of the damage. Patching a small hole might only take a few minutes, while repairing a water-damaged section of the ceiling could take hours. If there are structural issues, expect your ceiling repair to take several days or longer.

Plaster that sags or bulges, shows extensive deep cracks, or is crumbling from water damage or simply time may need replacement. Plaster walls can look a little “worn” for a long time before they need replacing. The only real way to know if it needs a replacement is to hire a professional to assess the condition of the plaster.

You will be placing holes in the wall to hang the mounting bracket. If you’re mounting a large TV, the bolts in use could make significant holes around half an inch in diameter. Other than a few holes, though, the process of mounting the TV should not cause significant damage to the wall, unless you make an error and miss the wall stud, tearing out drywall. Should you decide to remove the mount later, the DIY drywall repair cost for a small hole usually is $10 to $30. It’s a repair you can do in a few minutes.

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. This step makes the existing plaster less porous and ensures the new and old layers adhere properly for a smooth, long-lasting finish.

If you already have plaster walls and ceilings, adding new plaster costs $2 to $10 per square foot. For an average-sized room, that would come out to $1,200 to $10,000. However, the cost to replace plaster with drywall is higher—running between $720 and $1,250 for a 10-by-8-foot wall or ceiling (not including drywall finishing).
