"I had water damage to the ceiling of my garage. Vicente provided evaluation and written estimate in one visit with attention to details and my customer satisfaction. He took the time to verify my plumbing problem by video taping my water leakage of my bathtub drain pipe with his phone through the broken spaces in the ceiling. He returned the next day with Eduardo, assistant, to complete repair with pipe replacement of old bathtub drain pipes. I was impressed with Vicente's respectful, honest, confident, and professional demeanor with attention to customer satisfaction and service. Vicente exceeded my expectations with exemplary work. Bonus: I discovered afterward that Vicente had fixed my slow flowing sink faucet next to bathtub without request or charge. I would request Vicente again for all my plumbing needs in future. Thank you Vicente. You are special!"

"Steve was timely and quick with replacing my water heater and was very responsive when I messaged him. He also provided great suggestions and options for my water heater replacement and streamlined the bayren rebates process for me. Provided services at a very fair price compared to other plumbing services. 10/10 would go to him for future plumbing issues."

"Finally an honest Solar company!! I went through several companies trying to get quotes for one of my properties, either they were ridiculously expensive or they didn't return my calls. A friend of mine referred me to Mega Sun and I have to say I am very pleased. Within a couple days from the initial phone call I already had an estimate and once i decided to go with them the installation was completed in one week. Its been a little over a month since they completed the install and everything is working smoothly.

I was amazed at just how great the customer service was. I just want to say thank you to the whole team who helped out, I really appreciate all your hard work. Now I know you guys are the ones to call for all future jobs."

During the check up, the technician discovered the rod was quite

corroded and it needed replacing.  The rod was quite expensive,

but the tech explained that I could probably find a part online

less expensive, but that Benjamin Franklin's guarantee and quality

was worth paying more.  I have had no problems with the water heater

and will call them again when it's time to replace.

"It was recommended from an air quality specialist that I might have a leak behind the shower worth examining. I called Caccia and they said someone could come out the next day.
James showed up a little early. I received a call from dispatch prior to his arrival to confirm if this would be acceptable. He described what I should expect from the visit: discussion, evaluation, assessment, pricing and execution of services. I was initially interested in 1) investigating possible leak behind shower  2) repair of sink faucet and 3) replacement of toilet.
I checked the flow rate of the current toilet and discovered that it was 1.6 gallons/flush. I decided not to replace it. James concurred with my decision stating that it was still a water-saving toilet. He let me know that there were alternatives that had a lower rate of consumption.
He looked at the sink and he looked at the shower. He proceeded to explain to me what he could do to determine if repair/replacement was needed. He bluntly said that for the sink, it made sense to replace rather than repair the faucet. He was critical about the quality of the manufacturer and said that it would be better bang for buck to get a better quality set than attempt to repair the existing one. He priced out various options. He suggested additional work that could be added since the replacement of faucet would allow for secondary work (tail pipe and p-trap) at a reduced rate since the sink would already be pulled out. He gave separate estimates with him providing the faucet and with me providing the faucet. The prices were higher than I would have hoped. The delta between my buying one or having one provided by Caccia was about $300 dollars. I elected to hold off on the repair of the faucet.  I may try to DIY or at least get an estimate from another plumber.
For the shower, I elected to have James pull the plate off to examine if the cartridge for the mixer needed replacement. He explained that if he had the part in the truck, he could waive the fee for the examination and charge for parts and labor for the replacement of the cartridge. He explained that if the part were not in his truck, another visit would have to be scheduled and the price for the initial examination could not be applied to the second visit. We discussed different levels of service I could request and their prices. I chose the cheaper service (as described above) rather than the full check of mixer, drain and waste and surrounding tile.
Pulling off plate revealed little or no water presence behind the shower wall. He pointed out a tiny drip occurring at the mixer which was emptying out into the shower space and not the wall. The rate of leak did not increase appreciably when pressure was applied to the system by shutting flow off at the shower head.
We went in crawlspace to look for evidence of any leakage beneath the tub. Although there was evidence of previous water damage (corroborating what our initial home inspection stated) there was no moisture perceptible from crawlspace.
Joseph was professional and courteous throughout. He helped me understand what I was seeing while he was working. He gave a useful overview of the plumbing underneath the house. He commented that he saw some good work that had been previously done.

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Yes. To get soft water, you can install a water softening system, which will replace the calcium and magnesium ions in the water with sodium or potassium ions. Water softeners cost anywhere from $200 to $6,000, depending on the size and complexity of the system. You can either install a water softener for the whole house or just at your shower heads. If you’re sensitive to sodium or potassium, you can install a salt-free water conditioner.

The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.

Hard water stains can be a headache because they will reoccur as long as hard water flows through. Thankfully, hard water stains are not permanent. With the right tools and an appropriate cleaning routine, you can prevent hard water stains from ever building up. However, you might feel like you are stuck in a constant cleaning cycle. In that case, you may consider hiring a contractor to perform routine cleaning.

The average cost to install a water softener, including the system and labor, is approximately $1,500. However, the total price can range widely from $600 to $6,000. For some complete systems, the cost may be between $800 and $2,500. Labor for the installation typically costs between $150 and $1,000.

The final price is influenced by several factors, including:

  • System type, capacity, and complexity

  • Home size and household water demands

  • Water hardness levels

  • Accessibility of the installation site and the extent of plumbing work required

  • Whether new electrical work is needed

  • The professional hired and any local permit costs

Hard water is not considered unhealthy and is safe to drink, cook with, and bathe in. It doesn't pose a risk to your physical health and can even help you get enough essential minerals like calcium in your diet. However, it can negatively affect skin and hair. Using hard water for washing can contribute to dry skin, an itchy scalp, and may worsen conditions like eczema by altering the pH balance. Additionally, some people do not like the taste of hard water.
