Guardian Protection
Guardian Protection
Protecting homes and businesses since 1950, Guardian Protection is one of the nation's largest and most highly regarded security companies. We provide smart technology, 24/7 professional monitoring, and peace of mind to hundreds of thousands of customers. Our products are installed by experts, monitored by real people, and truly make a difference. We do what we do because of one simple truth: life is better when it's safe.
"We hired Guardian to install our security system at our Washington, DC, business. The service and quality of the work was horrible. We had cameras and an alarm system installed; it was a relatively large system. They outsource most of the work to various vendors. They could not manage their vendors; what was supposed to take a week took two months. The sales rep did not return calls, and you could never get anyone in management on the phone. Random people would show up at unannounced times. The few things that an actual Guardian employee did were they made a huge mess of our newly remodeled office and were rude to our staff. We have offices in five markets across the US and have high security at each; we have never had such a poor experience."

"First, we had a consultation with Jim, who was very thorough and honest about all the options available. The crew were punctual and very considerate, making sure everything was covered in plastic to keep things clean. There were A LOT OF rocks and debris in the attic (apparently the roof used to be flat concrete). So, it took them all day instead of half the day to finish the work. I feel so bad for the crew, and they were still so nice."

Corky's Pest Control
Corky's Pest Control
Unlike other pest control companies we don’t just treat the immediate structure of your home. We treat the surrounding areas including your landscape throughout the year for maximum results. Experience, knowledge, and dedication is a powerful combination in any business. When Corky started his company back in 1967 he was one of the only pest control companies in town. For the last 50 years he has had the pleasure of servicing Southern California and making it his passion to not only study the uniqueness of our climate and terrain but he has also become a well known author of the industry.
"Termite Fumigation Disaster using Corky’s Pest Control. Our neighbor and I employed Corky’s Pest Control to fumigate our attached homes. We were left with over 220 broken roof tiles and a repair cost that exceeded $4,000. That was more than the cost of the fumigation. Our HOA property manager expressed that this was an exceedingly high number of broken tiles for our community. As you can guess, I cannot recommend using Corky’s Pest Control."

The House Next Door
The House Next Door
The House Next Door is one of the top remodeling companies serving the greater Los Angeles metro area, San Bernardino County, Orange County and more. We are licensed and insured. We guarantee excellent customer service and quality workmanship with every job we do. We offer a wide range of services that include room additions, kitchen and bathroom remodels, patios and decks. "To Whom It May Concern: It has now been well over three years and our kitchen remodel has never been completed. We have not been contacted in over 2 years regarding the completion. This remodel has been LESS than satisfactory. Listed below are our grievances: 8/31/15 - We discussed with the salesman, Ron, what we wanted in the kitchen and the price we could afford. He eventually agreed and we asked if he needed to see the electrical box or anything else. He did not. 9/3/15 – After the kitchen had been demolished and $5500.00 had been collected from us, Ron finally looked in the electrical panel box and decided an additional $6250.00 would be needed to upgrade the panel, install LED lights, which he had told us weren’t necessary, and to put copper pipes under the sink (which already had copper pipes). He refused to continue the work without an immediate payment of an additional $5000.00. 9/4/15 We arrived home on that Friday night to find chicken bones on the floor of our demolished kitchen and empty beer bottles in addition to garbage, paint, plaster, tools and more chicken bones scattered all over our driveway and backyard. (Pictures enclosed-#1) We called the company and were told they would come out the next day to clean it up and haul away the trash. Instead, they moved the trash to the side of the driveway, leaned it against our new redwood fence, and it remained there for 4 weeks. (see enclosed picture #2) - The choice of cabinets had to be done by text because THND had nothing to show us. They were then put in without approval and they were, in many cases, either wrong or missing. - A cabinet was place directly touching the stove, a fire hazard. It would not have been corrected had the “city inspector” not pointed it out. (see enclosed picture #3). - The awful molding at the top of the cupboards, which in many cases doesn’t fit, was not a choice, it just showed up. And it started separating from the ceiling 3 months into the remodel, and had to be re-caulked. - The painting was done by a very inexperienced painter who didn’t even have a ladder. He stood on two paint buckets to paint near the ceiling. - THND must not own any ladders or buckets because the men used ours, covering them with stucco and paint, and ruining a large bucket. - The light fixtures were completely closed BEFORE the inspector came. He was NOT pleased. Everything had to be opened up again for inspection. - Rather than move electrical outlets, notches were cut into the backsplash to accommodate plugs – a very shoddy and amateurish job. (see enclosed picture #4) - An outlet was placed under the sink next to a leaking pipe. Again, the inspector saw it and saved us from possible disaster. - After the installation of the $5250.00 new electrical box, our brand new stucco was repaired so fast and poorly that it didn’t begin to match the surrounding stucco in texture or color. We had to wait TWO MONTHS for a correction and a big mess was left on the steps and cement underneath. - During a heavy rainfall, a leak in the bathroom ceiling, right next to the newly installed venting fan/light exposed an uncovered electrical box with loose wires floating around. Alarmed at the shoddy work and danger of exposed, un-grounded wires, we called our own electrician to come and check the work done by your company. 2/24/16 – Our electrician opened the ceiling in the bathroom to look over the situation. He said it is illegal to hide a box in the ceiling as had been done. Plus, it hadn’t been grounded and the box had to be extended to bring it down to ceiling level. Since he had worked at this house in the past, he knew that the LED lights in the kitchen were new so he went up into the attic to see what else was going on electrically. He said there were two other boxes that had been covered up and weren’t grounded – one in the main kitchen and one in the laundry area. Since nothing had been grounded so far he decided to check the new plug by the stove and found the ground wires cut off and thus not connected. He had to take out the box, extend the wires and reconnect the whole thing. Along the way he noticed that the new electrical box outside had loose wires, disconnected wires and mislabeled circuits. As he was working on the plug by the stove he noticed that it was on the same circuit as the stove and the microwave – all labeled dishwasher. He said if we tried to run a toaster oven when the microwave was going we would blow the circuit. I’d be interested to know what the “dedicated” lines to the kitchen actually are. We paid an extra $4000.00 for them. We now had several holes in the ceiling that need to be re-plastered. The electrician said that if it had been done properly the boxes that were covered up would, instead, have been turned around and opened UP to the attic instead of burying them. As it is now, the boxes on the ceiling, even with decorative covers, are ugly and amateurish. 3/15/16 and 3/18/16 – your electricians returned to finish and check remaining work. Holes remained open in the ceiling of the kitchen, washer/dryer area and bathroom. An appointment to fix them was made and cancelled and then we never heard anything from THND again. 1/31/17 – A continuing leak in the bathroom ceiling, caused by the vent put into our new roof by THND, had to be repaired by our roof people. We paid for this. (see enclosed picture #5) 2/2017 – We had the holes in our kitchen, washer/dryer and bathroom ceilings repaired and painted. We paid for this. To say that we were disappointed with THND would be a gross understatement. We saved a very long time in order to be able to afford a kitchen remodel. We expected to be working with professionals but most of the work was at best, amateurish, and at worst, dangerously negligent."

"From the moment I met Guy, I sensed he was very different from other contractors with whom I'd worked....and it was true. He wrote down, in detail, everything that was to be done and it was all completed beautifully and in a timely manner. He brought in superb craftsmen and treated them with great respect, something I've found lacking in other contractors with whom I've worked. Whenever I had a question, he responded promptly and visited often to make sure I was pleased with the work. He even built a custom support for an under-mount sink when the one provided by the manufacturer proved flimsy--something that wasn't even included in our contract! I'd developed some trust issues over the last couple years as a result of working with dishonest contractors or those whose work was of a poor quality. Guy renewed my faith. He is an honest, kind, skilled man and I will never use another contractor. Thank you, Guy!"

LA Rocque Better Roofs
LA Rocque Better Roofs
Our company history provides you with four generations of construction experience. It began in the early 1950’s when Guy La Rocque’s grandfather ran a successful steel and concrete company and, up until his un-timely death, Guy’s father owned and operated one of Southern California’s largest fence companies. Guy La Rocque acquired 100% ownership of La Rocque Bros Co. in 1979 and in 1981, changed the name to La Rocque Roofing. In 1984 the family decided to incorporate the company, hence the name change to La Rocque Better Roofs, Inc. Currently the company employs two generations of the La Rocque family with no intentions of stopping there. The reputation that we have built over the years is something we understand. It takes a great deal of effort and a daily dedication to our employees, clients, distributors, and manufacturers. We are constantly upgrading our company and looking toward the future. One of Guy’s philosophies is the only thing constant with our company is change. For him, this company is more than just a job, it is a hobby, a passion, and testimony of what was, what is and what will be. FAQs for insulation service projects in Mecca, CA
When choosing a professional insulation installer, consider asking these questions to determine the best fit.
Will you address air leaks in my house?
Can you provide an R-value (heat resistance) fact sheet?
What kind of insulation will work best for my home?
How do you handle signs of a water leak?
Are you licensed and insured?
Can you provide customer references?
The best type of insulation for your home depends on what you need, so the answer will depend on your specific situation. If you’re building a house, structural panels are easy to install during the building process in addition to being the most energy efficient type. If you live in a warm climate, reflective insulation may benefit you more as it costs less than other insulation types. And for standard attics, loose-fill, spray foam, or blown-in insulation work well.
If you plan to heat or cool your garage, you’ll need to insulate the garage ceiling. Insulating your garage ceiling will make your garage much more energy efficient and save on heating and cooling costs. Not only does insulation make your garage more energy efficient, it helps reduce noise and can extend the life of your garage roof. You can use fiberglass, cellulose, mineral wool, or spray foam insulation for this project.
In some cases, you may not have enough insulation to properly regulate your home’s temperature. Watch for a few signs your home needs more insulation, such as:
High heating and cooling bills
Uncomfortable room temperatures
Ice dams on the edge of your roof
Roof leaks
Cold floors and walls
Freezing pipes
Temperature fluctuations
Visibly low insulation
Noise problems
Pest problems
On average, insulating an attic costs about $2,500, ranging from $1,500 to $3,500, depending on the insulation type, amount, and your attic’s accessibility. Additional cost factors include sealing air leaks, removal or replacement of insulation, and inspections. Types of insulation include:
Blown-in: $1–$4 per square foot
Spray foam: $2–$5 per square foot
Batt: $2–$4 per square foot
Structural insulated panels: $4–$7 per square foot
Loose-fill: $2–$5 per square foot
Reflective: $0.50–$1.50 per square foot
