Small jobs welcome

"Geovany and his team did an amazing job at my house cleaning attic removing all debris lid insulation, sanitizing and air sealing attic, installing new insulation and radiant barrier. Job was done in a clean and professional manner. Team was polite and professional. I would recommend Fibers Insulation to anyone looking to upgrade or replace their insulation or just looking to add radiant barrier to their attic for a cooler more energy efficient home."

"Adam and his team of workers gave me a great deal on replacing the insulation in the attic. We had a leak in one of the fire alarm sprinklers that caused the insulation to be bad and smelly.
We spoke to Adam about the problem and he sent his employee (Luis) to come over and check the problem in order to provide us  with a quote.
The quote that Adam was able to give us was very good and we approved the work. He than sent 2 workers to do the job and it was done in 2 days after they had to clean everything in the attic and to try it before they placed the new insulation.

"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"The price was fair, the work was completed in one day and included removing all our old insulation, cleaning the ductwork, installing new R-35 batting, and an attic fan, and two ultraviolet lights in our HVAC units. I am very pleased with their responsiveness, and with the quality of the work completed. I would definitely hire them again - highly recommended!"

"Home Medics was on time, courteous, and changed out the filter in a timely manner. They did not try to sell an additional product or service like other company's do. They came and did what they were supposed to do. I was very pleased and will recommend them to others.

"Jim is amazing. We needed new windows for the bedrooms - the old ones were original from 1949 and no longer closed! Jim came over and helped walk me through the options. He also did a quick assessment of other areas where we might be losing energy efficiency and offered multiple solutions (some of which he suggested I could even do myself). The new windows are beautiful and keep the cold air out!! When I'm ready to order more for the other areas of the house and to insulate our walls, I will be sure to call Jim. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and believes in his work. It shows! Thanks Jim and Healthy Homes 4 U!

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should insulate behind shower walls. Insulating helps prevent heat loss, which keeps the shower or tub from getting too cold and helps maintain a comfortable temperature in your bathroom. Additionally, proper insulation and air sealing can help prevent wall rot and moisture buildup. It is recommended to use a high R-value rated foam insulation combined with a vapor barrier.

When installing metal siding, a high-quality house wrap is considered the best protection against condensation and moisture infiltration. House wraps can increase a home's efficiency significantly. However, a house wrap is not a replacement for a vapor barrier because it can be permeable when moist air passes through siding. This is why it's essential to follow manufacturer instructions for insulating siding when installing new siding.

How to dispose of insulation depends on a few factors, including the condition of the material. While you can simply bag up and throw away many kinds of insulation, some municipalities offer recycling, so it's worth checking with yours. If there are contaminants such as asbestos in your insulation, abatement and specialized disposal are often necessary.

R-30 insulation is better for higher thermal resistance, but whether it’s "better" depends on the application. R-30 is much thicker and suited for areas like attics or floors in cold climates, where more insulation is required. R-13, on the other hand, is thinner and works well for 2x4 walls or milder climates where less insulation is sufficient. Choosing between R-13 and R-30 depends on the area being insulated and the climate. For example, R-30 provides more insulation but may not fit everywhere in your home.

No, 55 degrees Fahrenheit is not too cold for a house, as it’s a temperature that will keep your pipes and appliances from freezing. Well-insulated homes can even go to 50 degrees, but check with an HVAC pro before opting for such a low temperature. Stick to 55 degrees to be on the safe side.
