"We are new to the area and called Electrical Buddy based on all the reviews we read online. Bryan texted back right away and was able to make it out to fix our outlets that weren’t working. Plus, they were able to install a couple of fandeliers for us on the same visit. Bryan was very reasonably priced, very knowledgeable and professional! We would 100% recommend calling Electrical Buddy and will use them again!!"

"I use Meek Electrical on all my HVAC jobs, from running new electrical to mini-split air-conditioners installed, to relocating power for customers that relocated outdoor units to new locations per remodel, changing outdated breakers with new, you name it. Owner Joe has many years of experience working on commercial and residential, very clean work & always a phone call away."

"Excellent work. From the start he showed professionalism, punctuality, and great attention to detail. The installation was clean, well organized, and working perfectly both indoors and outdoors. He also explained everything clearly and made sure everything was safe and ready to use. I definitely recommend him for any electrical work — reliable service and top-quality results."

"I live in the valley six months and East Coast 6 months. I have used Hegge three times. In 2005, Jose Santos replace 2 kitchen fluorescents with 6 recessed cans and then put in 4 additional recessed cans with its own dimmer in eating area where there had been only a fan with a bad light. In 2011, Francisco Montano put in an additional recessed can in a dimly lit closet. On 1/18/18, Francisco repaired loose wiring leading to a frequently tripping GFCI and corrected a blown circuit with a GFCI. These guys are expert, quick, neat, friendly, and prices are so reasonable for what they do. They are so neat that when they are done, you can't tell that what was new was not there before. Hegge goes out of its way to accommodate your schedule. I wish I had a Hegge for everything, not just electrical. The price quoted was just for the last service"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A 60W LED bulb is likely labeled as “60W replacement” on the package—that’s because it provides about the same light output as a 60W incandescent bulb. In reality, it likely uses less energy—usually 15 watts or less. If that’s the case, then it’s perfectly fine to put a 60W LED bulb in a 40W socket. Your best bet is to read the package carefully. It will tell you the LED bulb’s actual wattage, and as long as it’s lower than the fixture, the bulb will be safe to use.

The dials on an electrical meter simply represent the number of kWh you have used since it was installed. In a five-dial setup, the left-most dial represents tens of thousands of kWh, while the next dial to the right represents thousands of kWh. The following dials going to the right represent hundreds, tens, and ones.

Replacing your electrical meter box is critical because it helps prevent damage to your home’s electrical system or possible safety hazards. Plus, you won’t have to deal with frequent power tripping, flickering lights, or the scorched scents that an old or damaged meter box may cause.

Circuit breakers can wear out, but it takes a long time. Circuit breakers typically last several decades if they don’t face problems like floods or frequent lightning storms. Worn-out circuit breakers may trip more frequently as time passes. However, they can also stop tripping altogether, which leads to electrical dangers. If your breakers have passed the 30-year mark, it’s time to consider an inspection.

Volts and watts aren’t directly convertible units—they measure different aspects of electricity. Volts measure electrical potential, while watts quantify the power. The relationship between the two is defined by the equation: Power (watts)= Voltage (volts) x Current (amperes). In other words, the product of volts and amps results in watts, but there is no fixed conversion of volts into watts.
