"Brian was excellent. A real life saver literally. We had full power outage due to an overload on our fusebox on a hot night. Brian got back to us on phone quickly and was at our house in 45 minutes and had us power again. He came back in the morning and finished a few other jobs. Very reasonable. Very professional. Very thankful for Brian. We will definitely call him again for all future electrical needs."

"I use Meek Electrical on all my HVAC jobs, from running new electrical to mini-split air-conditioners installed, to relocating power for customers that relocated outdoor units to new locations per remodel, changing outdated breakers with new, you name it. Owner Joe has many years of experience working on commercial and residential, very clean work & always a phone call away."

"Excellent work. From the start he showed professionalism, punctuality, and great attention to detail. The installation was clean, well organized, and working perfectly both indoors and outdoors. He also explained everything clearly and made sure everything was safe and ready to use. I definitely recommend him for any electrical work — reliable service and top-quality results."

"Zach showed on time and went right to work, even though my job was very small he and his workers made me feel like it was a very important job and that it was the largest job that they had. He went above just hooking it up but also programmed it and set the on off time. Any other electrical that I have I would not hesitate to call him. I would also recommend him and his crew to anyone, for residential or business electrical needs."

"I live in the valley six months and East Coast 6 months. I have used Hegge three times. In 2005, Jose Santos replace 2 kitchen fluorescents with 6 recessed cans and then put in 4 additional recessed cans with its own dimmer in eating area where there had been only a fan with a bad light. In 2011, Francisco Montano put in an additional recessed can in a dimly lit closet. On 1/18/18, Francisco repaired loose wiring leading to a frequently tripping GFCI and corrected a blown circuit with a GFCI. These guys are expert, quick, neat, friendly, and prices are so reasonable for what they do. They are so neat that when they are done, you can't tell that what was new was not there before. Hegge goes out of its way to accommodate your schedule. I wish I had a Hegge for everything, not just electrical. The price quoted was just for the last service"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It’s not a good idea to mix LED and incandescent Christmas lights if you can avoid it. LEDs and incandescents can have significantly different electrical current needs. This difference can lead to a higher risk of problems and failure for both light strands. When possible, switch all your lights over to one kind or the other for the best results. Do not connect the different types of light strings to each other, and avoid linking them to the same circuit.

Each meter should have a serial number printed or engraved on the face of the meter. Make sure the serial number of the meter you are reading matches your account with the power company. If you live in an apartment complex, the meters are likely located all together. Yours should be labeled according to your apartment unit.

Yes, Christmas lights on a timer are just as safe as any other Christmas lights are. Most fires caused by holiday lights are due to damage to the strings of lights themselves or from too many lights being plugged into one circuit.

In most cases, line wires are located at the bottom of a panel or device, while load wires are located at the top. Line wires are generally black, while load wires are typically red or black. To tell for sure, you can use a multimeter or volt pen to test the wire. A live or line wire will always carry a charge, while a load wire will only carry a charge when it’s in use.

Though they may seem similar at a quick glance, outdoor electrical outlets are different from indoor electrical outlets in that they have extra safety precautions to prevent electrical hazards. These include GFCIs, which some indoor outlets have, and a watertight cover that allows you to use electricity from the outlet even on a rainy day.
