They did a fabulous job on the analysis. They were here for 5 and a half hours so it was very thorough. They tested the air flow through the ducts and everything. I was blown away by the thoroughness for the analysis. They were extremely professional and explained why they were recommending what they recommended. They followed up by sending a pdf of their estimate and their explanation. We did not have the company install insulation, but it wasn’t due to their lacking. What they proposed was definitely the best solution.

It was fine however I would not recommend them as I don’t feel it offered a lot of value.

I thought the deal was a waste of money. I thought the company would do insulation spray at a highly discounted rate. They wanted to charge a lot more to do that service. The technician was very polite and did seem to know what they were talking about. I thought they should have been more clear with what they were offering, but scheduling was not an issue.

their communication was poor to begin with. then they put someone incharge to follow up. that went well.  the job was done when we asked, and they were flexible about our schedule.   the job was done well but left a mess up in our attic, They paid for me to have someone else clean it up so i could lay planks of wood down for flooring.

I used a Big Deal for the work. I am sure they do a great job but I could just tell right away that they were trying to sell other stuff, and that put me off. They took the temperature of my attic because I wanted to see about getting that spray foam stuff to see if it would help cool off upstairs, but right away, they were just trying to sell me new windows. My windows are not that old. They gave me a quote on new windows and it was an unbelievable amount. I think they are a good company but it is just that they were trying to sell me and I didn’t like that. I just don’t like that type of hard sell, even if they have good products. The price was probably in line with what it costs to get window replacements but I didn’t need window replacements. For a couple of my windows, he was trying to replace the exact same windows that I had, and which was about two years old. He was on a high pressure because they called a couple of times and I said no and that I wasn’t interested. I think he came on time, and he was professional. I wasn’t looking for everything he offered me. He gave me a quote and it was expensive but I never got any comparable quotes at the time.

Work was done on time and left area clean after the install.  Additional touch repairs were required after the installation and contractor had no problem returning to complete it to our satisfaction.  Great customer service, very informative and friendly staff and owner.

They gave us a report and then the guy gave me a business card from "his company" not the company I bought the deal from.  The owner of HH4U then talked to him to get him to stop that practice.  A month or so goes by and we are ready to talk references and pictures and start date.... Dead Silence, no responses nothing.  No a good first impression of Angies List.

Jim is amazing. We needed new windows for the bedrooms - the old ones were original from 1949 and no longer closed! Jim came over and helped walk me through the options. He also did a quick assessment of other areas where we might be losing energy efficiency and offered multiple solutions (some of which he suggested I could even do myself). The new windows are beautiful and keep the cold air out!! When I'm ready to order more for the other areas of the house and to insulate our walls, I will be sure to call Jim. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and believes in his work. It shows! Thanks Jim and Healthy Homes 4 U!

That was fine. It was cool. hey came and did the energy scan and they pitched their products which was way out of price range. It was good to find out where we had our little heat and chronic leak. They did it for the $39 big deal cost. The price was really good. If I needed another energy scan, I would use them in the future. I would consider them in the future. They're expensive for what they actually do but the energy scan was a really good deal.

I could have misunderstood what was going to be done, thinking they would tell me how to save energy throughout the house. He examined the attic, said I had insulation, but offered to replace it for newer, better at the cost of several thousand dollars. I already knew the insulation wasn't new. Again I could have misunderstood what the deal was for, but I wouldn't do it again.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. They did what they said, but they were supposed to give me a report. However, I never got it. They did not follow through and offer any business that they could do to actually rectify the problem, either. They did a visual inspection to check for how efficient my attic is in keeping the temperature down. The told me it was not very efficient, but I knew that. One of the reasons I used this service is to find out what to do about it. They said they would tell me a little that they could do about it via an email message that included the cost, but I never got the email. They lost an opportunity to make some money.

The technician was very polite and reasonably knowledgeable. He scanned the attic with an infrared reader to locate areas which had high heat gain and suggested I insulate those specific areas.

I did not choose them to do the work.  Ultimately, I felt like I paid $39 for something that I could have gotten for free.  I called another provider for the same job and paid nothing for the written proposal.  The guy from HealthyHomes4U was very professional and seemed to know his business, but I think he is used to working on homes in Michigan.  One doesn't need tremendous amount more than Southern Carolina needs in terms of keeping the cold and the hot stable.  His bid was 1000 of dollars more than anybody else I have got.  He was going apples and oranges in terms of what his beliefs of what I needed in San Diego, California versus what other people that are called out to get me.  My stepfather is also retired air conditioning business for 40 years and so he went up the attic and looked also.  He said that there was no way I needed all that.  It was one page and very professional looking evaluation of what he had found.  He talked to me on site of what I needed and sent me a full proposal of what it would cost to me to do the work.  They might be good enough for someone for a completely different climate zone.

"(member name removed), I am sorry you feel that way. We sent out an inspector with over 20 years of experience. He performed the inspection and told you what he felt was best for your house. As a certified Home Energy Raters we do things differently than other contractors and raters but experience and testing has shown it is in the best interest of our clients. Those we actually do work for appreciate the results. It may cost more up front but will make your home more cost effective and comfortable for the rest of its life."

It was okay; it was nothing more than I expected. It was so cheap that I thought I'd give it a try and maybe we could get some insight into ways to make our house more energy efficient, it's already pretty efficient, and the option that they offered was just cost prohibitive. So honestly, I thought that it was more of an opportunity to get a qualified lead to sell their service to. But we did get some artefacts, and for the money I suppose that was worth it.

I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and it turned out fine. They came out pretty fast after I purchased the Big Deal. They did a good job, but didn't really do anything except go through and see what's there. As far as I know they did everything right.

Saw vermin droppings and told me to call an exterminator. Gave me what I felt was an extraordinarily high price for insulation. Also offered to put in insulated windows at what I also felt was an extremely high price. He was not pleasant to deal with.

"Hi [member name removed], I am sorry we did not live up to your expectations. Was there something else you expected from us? I hope our inspector explained the benefits of the foam insulation to justify the additional cost. I will talk to him about his attitude. We only do Milgard windows as I consider them the best. We are usually very competitive on Milgard windows but cannot compete with the lessor brands."

I used it and it was kind of dodgy. The guy came out and he did a really good job checking out my ductwork and everything, which is what I expected. That was really professional and really good. He spent and hour and a half, two hours doing all of that. He did some stuff, explained some stuff for me and then he gave me a quote for a bunch of stuff. He did not bring a thermal camera with him, so he needed to check some stuff. He recommended the blowing and a bunch of cellulose insulation. Then he said, okay, I'll just swing by next week on my way home with the camera. I said, okay thanks. He was supposed to come by on one day and I get a call from the number and it was his boss following up and he was following up on the quote. I said that I thought it was Les and he said he would check and then he called back and said that Les was no longer with the company and that they decided to go a different direction with the company and concentrate on more commercial stuff.

They were helpful. I walked through with the guy when he was using a infrared camera. He knew what he was talking about and he was very knowledgeable. The estimate that I got back was more than we wanted to pay. I would certainly use them in the future if needed. They were very professional. They were prompt in response from the purchase of the Big Deal.

We are still under home warranty, so we hesitated to purchase the part they suggested.  We will definitely consider the warranty program they suggest for A/C unit.  They power washed my coils and replaced the air filter.  Very pleasant crew.

It was a long day they had to cover everything with plastic so that took a while but once the work started it went fast. They did most of the work from the inside walls any where they could not reach like the bathrooms with title on the walls they did the work from the outside. Everything went great. Well worth it. My electric bill has already gone down.

The HERS audit consisted of a home inspection that mapped the exterior, listed all appliances, HVAC, Water heater, etc. They also performed and Door Pressure Test and Duct Leakage Tests. All these figures were placed in a computer model and the output was provided to me in 2 reports, an existing state and the impact of recommended changed on a future state.
The testing procedures were interesting but the reports are the what you are really paying for. I my case my newer home was relatively efficient and the recommend changes addressed my comfort level concerns, but were all relatively expensive. Per the model, a majority of my electrical expenses are associated with my appliances, so energy savings were comparatively minimal.
Recommendations and Costs
1) Convert to "conditioned" attic space, requiring the installation of closed cell foam in the rafters of the attic and the removal of all existing batt insulation (~$7,00)
2) Install an ERV whole house ventilation system to provide continuous fresh air
3) Replace 5 existing double pane windows with 5 new triple pane windows (~$2,500)
4) Install open cell foam insulation in my south facing walls (~$3,500) when you include repair and paint walls
These recommendations will dramatically improve the comfort in the upstairs, but ultimately energy saving paybacks are many years. I plan to implement recommendations #1 and #2. I also plan to install Solar to stabilize my electrical bills.
Jim, the owner of Healthyhomes4u was great. He answered all of my questions and helped me to prioritize my home efficiency improvement projects.

Our house was built in 1956 and very drafty! We had high utility bills and it was always cold in my home. We hired them to replace the windows , insulate the attic and walls. They put in a tank less water heater and sealed the air ducts. They put weather stripping around all the doors. I was worried about the mess that the work would create. I have 4 children and we all know how that go's. They were so clean and professional, I could not believe it .They did a top notch job. My house feels so nice and warm now. It feels like a home!! We all love the endless hot showers too!!! Having that many children we always ran out of hot water. Jim Nugent ( the owner) even helped us get a rebate from our utility company's a total of $8,000.. My utility bills are so much lower( about 40%). They went out of their way to make us happy!.I highly recommend them.
