"Tony and crew were great. The appropriate door was installed beautifully and the fence was fixed better than new. They were prompt, work was done quickly and thoroughly. We are also having him quote on doing our bathrooms and floors. In the quote process he gave recommendations to improve what we want done. This is intended to be a great recommendation."

"Nathan and his crew started almost immediately and finished on schedule. They were responsive and approachable and ready to tackle any problems that arose during the project. Always nerve wracking to deal with contractors but KN remodeling made it easy and performed as expected. The tile work was excellent, the demo was quick, and the cabinets were gorgeous. The entire crew were very professional and courteous."

"Kyle Beym Home Improvement exceed all expectations! We hired KBHI to remove a very outdated looking wall attached to our fireplace, move the gas line, remove some outdated bricks in front of the fireplace and propose a solution for removal of the outdated wood. Kyle and his team were incredibly professional, clean and responsive. As an added bonus, he found the perfect compliment brick to replace the outdated wood that was wrapped around the fireplace. During the process, our flooring installers were behind and we needed Kyle's team to postpone a day or two--he did it without any issue and was right back to work instantly when the flooring people finished. His was amazing, kind, accommodating and very cost-effective. A+++ across the board and a true professional in everything he does. Thank you, Kyle! You made our remodel of our home that much more exceptional"

"I would suggest Bob and Nicole. We hired Platinum Home Builders to complete a difficult project that included moving and relocating a 100-year-old Douglas home, pouring a new foundation, and installing a new floor plan and a completely developed basement. I would go into more detail, but I believe the most important thing we learned was how much we trusted Platinum Home Builders to do the correct thing and make the right judgments."

"I recently completed my home remodeling project with HIC Builders, and my overall experience has exceeded my expectations. Avi, in particular, showcased extensive knowledge and was an absolute delight to collaborate with throughout the process. The team excelled in providing precise estimates for both budget and timeline. Despite minor setbacks due to city-related delays, they made sincere efforts to compensate for lost time. Having undertaken multiple projects in the past, I can confidently state that this has been the most gratifying working relationship I've had with a contractor. Without a doubt, I plan to engage HIC Builders again for my future projects."

"My fiance and I finally decided to remodel our kitchen after thinking about it for 7+ years.  We signed up on Angie's List to review contractors because my major concern when it came to choosing a contractor was trust.  I wanted someone reliable, honest, and professional.  After reading through several reviews, Fred from Deco Construction stood out and we set up a meeting with him.  He came to our house to see the scope of the work and then we met a few days later at his office to go over the estimate.  Just as the reviews we read mentioned, he itemized every aspect of the job so we knew exactly how much of our money was going where.  The price seemed fair and we didn't interview any other contractors like we originally planned because we thought it would be a waste of our time.  Again, my priorities were finding someone reliable, honest and professional and I found all those things with Fred.
The Work
The demo started and Fred's crew found that our old kitchen had a lot of concrete layers on the ground AND the kitchen countertops which was unexpected.  They gutted the kitchen down to the studs.  (Note: the price listed in how much we spent did not include the cost of the cabinets or appliances which we got ourselves).  Simultaneously Fred's crew removed a window from our living room that we always kept covered up with a curtain because our TV was there, and transformed it into a wall, where we now mount our TV.  Also going on at the same time, Fred had an electrician come and put recessed lighting throughout the whole house (kitchen, living room, front hallway, office, two bedrooms, master bathroom).  Additionally, smoke alarms and exhaust fan in master bathroom were also put in.  Needless to say the first three weeks of the job the house was EXTREMELY dusty.  If you are going to remodel and plan on living in the house during the remodel like we did, be prepared for that.  They also repainted the entire interior of the house.
The lighting work and living room work were done fairly quickly.  With the rooms finished being worked on, we put everything back to normal and lived in the back part of the house for most of the time as the front of the house is an open concept and somewhat connected to the kitchen in that it still remained very dusty while the kitchen was continued to be worked on.
Once the kitchen was gutted the floors went in first and then the cabinets started getting installed.  Countertop went in next, then the backsplash and finally the appliances.  Fred also replaced 2 windows in the kitchen area.  The installation of everything came out very clean.  One of Fred's guys in particular, Juan, is exceptional.  After our pull out drawer microwave was installed the opening of the cabinet we placed it in was too big and the microwave didn't have a kit.  Juan used some of our cabinet material and basically made it look as if it was a custom built-in and we were really impressed.  They also installed three pendant lights to go over the bar area as well as under cabinet lighting.  Final product - AMAZING!  We cannot believe this is our kitchen.
Critique and Comments
1.  Fred ALWAYS answered his phone.  I never had to leave a message and wait around for him to call me back.  In addition, any questions or concerns I had he addressed right away.
2.  If we weren't happy with any aspect, Fred made sure his guys would fix it until we were satisfied with the work (no extra charge to us)
3.  One of Fred's workers, Juan is AMAZING, especially with cabinetry.
4.  I had a very specific vision for this kitchen and Fred made that come to life.  Again, if there was anything that we were unsatisfied with he would fix it until we were satisfied.
5.  We hit a major delay because three of our cabinets had manufacturer damage (we ordered from Lowe's) and had to wait for the replacements to arrive.  However, things were going very quickly up until that point and I believe if we did not run into this delay (not Fred's fault) we would've finished ahead of schedule.
6.  We were out of town a lot in the beginning while Fred's crew was working.  (Simultaneously planning a wedding out of state for this summer).  Felt comfortable not being home.
7.  Fred's guys always cleaned up their mess at the end of each day.  Kept furniture covered because, again, it does get very dusty.  Another reviewer emphasize this, and she was right!
8.  Fred is fair.  Although we didn't get quotes from anyone else, after seeing the completion of the job we are 100% satisfied that we got our money's worth.  Fred has a payment schedule and doesn't collect until after each specified portion of the job is complete and we were very comfortable with that.
Just remember, no matter who your contractor is, a remodel can be a stressful, frustrating thing (especially while living in the house during it).  Issues and concerns will always come up.  However, having Fred as a contractor helps a lot.  Working with Fred, we stressed less knowing that Fred wouldn't stop working until we were satisfied.  The job wasn't just a checklist to him to get everything done at a minimum and leave.  He doesn't leave until you are satisfied.  And even then, he will come back if you find anything that needs fixing well after the job is done.  He is also always upfront about costs so there were no hidden costs along the way.  We will definitely hire Fred again when we are ready for more projects to be done.

FAQs for treehouse building projects in Long Beach, CA

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.

One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.

Typically, it’s more affordable to buy an existing home than it is to build a new one. New construction loan interest rates tend to be higher than interest rates for traditional mortgages. Additionally, the cost of materials is likely higher when building a new home than it was when an existing home was built (unless it’s a very new one). You’re also paying for all new appliances, finishes, permits, inspections, and connections for water, gas, and electricity.

Knowing if you need an architect for your project can be tricky, especially if you've never worked with one before. In general, small remodeling projects like replacing fixtures typically don't require the expertise of an architect. However, larger projects, like moving walls or adding an addition to your home, should include an architect to ensure the project is structurally sound.

The cost to build a detached garage for two cars costs about $26,400 on average. Prices range from $19,200 to $33,600, depending on your location, the garage size, height, materials, and site prep required. Additional cost factors include any plumbing, electrical wiring, and insulation. If you need to build a concrete foundation for a new detached garage, you can expect to pay $1,000 to $8,600 for this essential addition.
