"David and his assistant fixed 3 holes in a second story deck then applied a metal lath and troweled on a layer of deckcretethe first day. 2nd day applied a fiberglass mat and saturated with laminating resins. David then shot a layer of knockdown texture to the deck and finally applied a resin sealer finish coat over the deck. The deck need 24 hours drying and 3 day wait before placing items on the deck. The whole project went nicely and the new deck looks great and should need a sealing in 5 years."

"OC Decks did a great job from the first meeting for estimate to last day of the job. Ed and Sharon, the owners who came out, were very helpful in outlining what needed to be done. New French doors were installed and the coordination between OC Decks and the window installer worked out great. The repairs to our large balcony deck were more involved after removing the old deck, and Sharon kept me informed of exactly what needed to be done and the cost involved. They did a superb job, replacing stucco that was torn out, and matching paint perfectly to the walls and trim involved. Alexia in the office was very personable and helpful throughout the job. The crew were very respectful, honoring the quarantine, never coming in the house, using ladders to reach the balcony for all the work. OC Decks came highly recommended to me by a local real estate broker that I trust completely. I would highly recommend OC Decks and feel they are competitive in price. The quality and care of their job is A+."

"Couldn't have gone better. I was under a time crunch because my tenant moved out and I didn't want to let the house sit a whole month without income. I urgently read AL reviews and called 5 companies.
Don, the owner I think, of Foothill came out himself at a time that worked for me. He immediately impressed me with his insight, friendliness and his suggestions of how to keep costs low while not skimping on quality. He worked with me on price and I gladly gave him the job. Couldn't be happier, I was on the road for work when the work got done and thankfully it went off without a hitch; no calls, no extra charges, no delays. The place was sparkling and beautiful for our new tenants upon move-in.
Foothill has a customer for life.

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

It's okay to walk on a newly painted deck after about four to six hours as long as the weather has been dry. Be sure to wait at least 24 hours before you place any outdoor furniture or grills on a freshly painted deck, though.

There are ways to clean your deck to help maintain a clean appearance. You can easily remove surface-level dirt and grime by wetting your deck with a hose and doing a quick scrub with store-bought deck cleaner monthly.

However, investing in professional deck cleaning services near you at least twice a year is worth it. This service saves you time and ensures that your deck will avoid accidentally becoming scratched by blasting the pressure washer at the wrong angle.

While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct structures. A porch is a covered structure, usually attached to the front of a home, that offers protection from the elements. In contrast, a deck is an open, uncovered platform, often attached to the back or side of a home. Because porches have a roof, they typically require less maintenance than decks, but both features need regular cleaning and repairs to stay in good condition.

Footings for ground-level decks need to be at least 12 inches deep, and some areas require them to be even deeper. A standard range for deck footings is anywhere from 12 to 48 inches. The minimum footing depth is determined by an area’s frost line and soil conditions. If you’re unsure how deep to install deck footings, check local building codes to find the minimum footing depth in your area.

Although composite decking is extremely durable, it’s also susceptible to extreme heat. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading, warping, and cracking. Composite also retains heat more than wood, which makes it dangerous to walk on in the summer. You can help prevent heat damage by only building with composite in shaded areas or using rugs to cover the hottest spots.
