Small jobs welcome

"Fibers Insulation was extremely professional right from the first call. I chose their service from Angie’s Lust and within minutes Geovany responded. He came out on a Saturday to provide a quote and followed up days later. Members of the company were here at the designated time and did a stellar job! I insulated my garage to add better barrier for my garage to enhance a new AC unit to offset summer heat. Geovany followed up after the installation to ensure all went well. To ensure a better look, taping will be added to keep it looking great. I will recommend them to others in my gated community as I am very pleased with the result."

"IIS is an excellent company to complete your attic project. Alex initially gave me a free inspection and good estimate then made sure all my questions were answered throughout the whole project. All the work was done within a day and it was great pricing for the work performed, beats most competitors."

"Good company to work with! They were very nice and seem to be honest over the phone as well. They came on time and did the job. My A/C system didn't work good and a strange smell came out of the ducts when I turned the A/C on.
Jose that did the work, checked everything and connected a machine to the system letting it run for a while and added a cleaning chemical that made this smell gone.
I will hire them for the future. it was a hassle free with this company.

"The team at Hometown Restoration did an excellent job of identifying the location of the moisture, determining how much needed to be removed to prevent any mold from growing, and applying dryers to get the frame to be dry again. They then put in new drywall, flooring, paint, etc. to get my home good as new."

"At this point, i can recommend this company in case you need to have someone professional, reliable and not expensive to work at your attic in case you will have any issues there. This company came over and replaced the insulation due to several problems that i had there.
Their price was good too and they came to my house in the time frame that was set ahead of time by their office.

"We purchased a home in October 2013 which had been inspected by another pest control company.  They tented the house for drywood termites and the termite inspection report indicated that there were no subterranean termites.
The day after we moved in, I found mud tubes inside the garage and drywall with the obvious signs of termite damage.  The prior inspector had not inspected the garage because it was full of the prior homeowner's junk at the time, and he completely missed the massive infestation in the garage.  That company did treat the garage under warranty, but a few months later, we found another large infestation on the other side of the house, and the company refused to treat that area of the house under warranty.
Rather than deal with that company again, we contacted Center Termite.  Center uses Altriset for subterranean termites, which is a safer product than the Termidor product that the other company used (and much more expensive than Termidor).  Center Termite also provided a 3 year warranty on the whole house treatment, versus the 1 year warranty from the other company.  Those factors, along with the positive reviews on Angie's List, made Center Termite the obvious choice.
Everyone at Center Termite was extraordinarily helpful and patient.  We had several other problems and projects with the house that delayed the termite treatment for several months, but when we finally scheduled the treatment, they booked an appointment with us within a few days.  The two man crew arrived on time, promptly started drilling, and were done in a few hours.  They also thoroughly treated the room that showed signs of active infestation, injecting pesticide in the drywall and studs where the termites had left their telltale marks.
They patched all of the holes in the walls inside the house, filled the holes in the slab with a liquid cement product, swept up all of the dust, and cleaned up after themselves.
A few months later, we remodeled our living room, and when I removed a piece of baseboard and wainscot, I found another active subterranean nest inside the house.  We called Center Termite, emailed them some photos of the little buggers crawling around, and they scheduled an appointment that week, no questions asked.  The employee came out, drilled the slab inside the house (the laminate flooring was already eaten away by the termites, so the small hole was the least of my worries), treated the wall and stud where the drywall had been devoured, and was done in 15 minutes.
Center has demonstrated fantastic customer service in all respects, and I would recommend them without hesitation.
For anyone who encounters subterranean termites in their home, my recommendation would be to let Center drill in the most effective location if at all possible, which may be inside the house.  Once the 1/2" hole is patched with a matching color epoxy or grout or appropriate filler, it doesn't look bad at all.  If I find another nest inside the house in the future, I will have them drill inside the house and will just patch the holes with a matching color filler, keeping the mark on the floor as a trophy.  Obviously consult with them on what makes the most sense, and speak with your handyman on how to best fill the holes to make them less visible, but after dealing with subterranean termites for over a year now with 3 treatments, I don't want to mess around.

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Whether you apply the drywall mesh before or after drywall mud depends on the type of patch it is. For self-adhesive patches, you’ll put the patch down first and then coat it with mud. Mesh patches that are not self-adhesive will require you to put mud down first and then press the mesh into it, followed by additional coats of mud.

If you suspect black mold is inside your walls, do not punch a hole in the drywall yourself to look. Call a mold inspection expert to help you. Some signs of a potential black mold infestation inside the wall include an unexplained musty, damp smell. Some people liken it to rotting vegetables. You may smell it most strongly through a wall outlet. If you and your family are experiencing constant coughing or symptoms that feel like an unexplained allergy, it could indicate black mold behind a wall.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

Costs depend on damage size, labor rates, and whether additional services like painting are required.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.
