OK..confirmed it pretty much couldn't be repaired (purchased in 2014). Bought a new DW (Bosch)which has worked well. Disappointed that local appliance store (where appliance purchased) did not respond to calls re problem. So I paid for the service call and new dishwasher. Oh well...life goes on..
