Small jobs welcome

"They installed and sealed over 1700’ sq of Travertine tile on the diagonal including a beautiful new shower. We appreciated their expertise, customer services and attention to detail on the install. Their pride in craftsmanship is why we will call them back for future projects and highly recommend them to our friends and neighbors."

"The porcelain tile installation turned out better than we hoped. Their workers adapted to the change that proved necessary (we tried to remove the previous tile and cement board underlayment ourselves). They also disposed of the tile we removed. The new floor is a joy to behold."

"We are picky people, and we give our highest recommend to Brother and Brother with Eitan. They finished our 2 bathroom remodel job on time, and it was very well done according to our specifications. In the development/design process, Eitan came by the home several times to patiently work out three different remodel options with us, helped with the tile options and color schemes at a tile store, gave excellent feedback as to where to buy materials, and what materials we should spend more money on verses which to save on. The entire team is excellent. Raul is a tile and cabinet/countertop installation master, and the workers were professional, courteous, and kept the job site clean. You simply cannot choose a better company!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Once cracks appear, it is hard to stop tiles from cracking more. If the cause of the problem is improper subflooring, underlying concrete, improper tile joint sizes, mold growth, or structural issues, the only way to stop floor tiles from cracking is to redo the entire floor, fixing the underlying issues first. If cracks occur after impact damage, hiring a professional tile contractor to replace the cracked tiles, fix loose floor tiles, and restore the grout around them can prevent further damage. It is also important to keep your tile and grout clean and maintained to prolong its life.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Lack of durability is the most significant downside of painting tile. However, a painted tile backsplash doesn't see the same kind of action as, say, painted flooring tiles. For backsplashes, the durability of the finish is crucial because they often require cleaning. However, you can minimize the durability problem by using mild cleaners and water on the painted surfaces.

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.
