"We had a few delays because of the rain. But when stopped raining they showed up on time and started the project. They finished the gate next day. Clean up the trash and hauled it away. I would recommend EZHome to have a fence installed."

"I asked Trejo's Lanscaping to trim my bushes and to weed in the front and back, and he gave me a reasonable quote for the work. I also asked two other companies to give me quotes for the work. I added an extra project to replace the weed fabric and mulch on the parking strip around the front of my property with new weed fabric and medium-sized river rock. I hired Teejo's Lanscaping to do both jobs. Arturo and his two assistants arrived on time to work on the project. They got as far as removing the weed fabric and mulch and trimming the bushes along the side fence when it started to rain heavily. We agreed to stop work until the weather was better. I had to wait a week before he was able to come back. After laying down the new weed fabric, they carefully poured the rock around the established plants. Arturo trimmed the front plants and cleaned up the leaf litter under the plants. He and Pablo moved to the back to weed and to trim the bushes. I was happy with the appearance of the front and back yards and the cost . I will definitely hire him again in the future."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

When planning a fencing project in Gilroy, check if your fence design meets city height limits, especially for fences over six feet. Consider local setback rules, HOA guidelines, and whether your property borders farmland, which may require wildlife-friendly designs. Fire safety zones and utility easements are common in Gilroy, so mapping these out and confirming property lines is essential for a smooth project.

Helpful?

In Gilroy, shifting clay soil often causes fence posts to lean or wobble, especially after heavy winter rains. Watch for rust forming at the base of metal posts, cracked or crumbling concrete footings, and wood that appears gray or splintered from intense summer sun. Gaps between boards or sagging gates can signal underlying soil movement or wind damage—addressing these early helps prevent major repairs later.

Helpful?

Gilroy’s climate brings wet winters and very dry, hot summers, causing wood and metal fencing to expand, contract, and sometimes warp. Strong seasonal winds, especially the Diablo winds, can stress poorly anchored fences. Morning fog and humidity increase the risk of rot or rust, particularly on north-facing fences. Seismic activity in the region means flexible, reinforced construction is recommended for long-term durability.

Helpful?

In Gilroy, fencing is often used to define property lines, provide privacy from neighboring farms, and secure rural lots against wildlife or trespassers. Many homeowners install fences to meet California pool safety codes or to create defensible space in wildfire-prone areas. Fencing also helps reduce dust and noise from agricultural operations and highways, while boosting curb appeal as Gilroy neighborhoods continue to grow.

Helpful?

For fencing projects in Gilroy, knowing your property’s soil type—especially if it’s clay-heavy—guides post installation and drainage planning. Assess the slope, elevation, and exposure to prevailing winds, which can be strong in open areas. Check for utility easements, fire zone classification, and proximity to farmland or wildlife corridors. Mature trees and the property’s development history may also affect fence placement and design choices.
