"My elderly mother had a blocked drain line, and she hired a different rooter service to fix it. The contractor said her septic tank needed to be pumped out - after pumping, he said the septic tank was cracked needed to be replaced at a cost of $38,000!! He then proceeded to dig up the back yard. As soon as I learned about this, I fired the contractor and contacted Martin - he came to the house in a couple of hours and inspected the tank and system. There was nothing wrong with the tank - he repaired some broken lines, replaced a line, got the tank back on line and backfilled the yard for $2500. Very nice to work with a pro and I would definitely recommend him."

"I recently hired VMG Plumbing to complete several repairs at my home, and I could not be more impressed with the experience. From the very beginning, Bineto demonstrated exceptional professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail. He not only addressed the issues I was aware of, but also identified several defects left behind by the builder and took the time to explain practical solutions to improve the overall plumbing system in my home. I decided to move forward with all of his recommendations, and I am extremely glad I did. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding, and everything was completed with care, precision, and professionalism. It is clear that Bineto takes great pride in his work and genuinely cares about his customers. If you are looking for an honest, knowledgeable, and highly skilled plumber, I wholeheartedly recommend VMG Plumbing. Septic Tanks FAQs, answered by experts

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.

The best times of year to empty or pump a septic tank are spring and fall. Many professionals recommend spring because the ground has thawed, making the tank easier to access and the waste less likely to be frozen. Pumping before summer also helps avoid conflicts with vacations or outdoor gatherings. Fall is another great option, as contractors may be less busy, and servicing the tank can reduce the risk of overflow from winter and spring precipitation. While summer is also a suitable time, winter is generally not recommended due to frozen ground.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

The physical constraints of hand-drilling a well limit the depth you can achieve. Manually digging with picks and shovels may only lead to shallow wells of up to 60 feet in depth. To reach greater depths, you need more specialized equipment. The diameter of your well and the tools you’re using will determine how far down you can dig.

With so much available information about the ecological effects of cesspools (and their general unpleasantness), it begs the question: Are cesspools legal? In short, sort of. Large-capacity cesspools that serve more than 20 people are completely illegal countrywide. Existing, smaller cesspools are generally allowed as long as they’re not actively polluting. However, new cesspools are illegal to build in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and many states offer programs to help homeowners with the costs of updating cesspools to modern septic systems.
