Customers say: True professional

"Amazing company and customer service! From the moment I requested an online estimate to the job being completed, Rob and his employees were polite and professional. He did a fantastic job in very little time and charged a more than reasonable price. I would most definitely use Dunn Drywall again and recommend them to anyone that appreciates truly quality work at a fair price."

"I had worked with them in the past. I happened to see them on Home Advisor and emailed them through you. They've always fixed other people's drywall work, in my home. They do an impecible job! Very satisfied. They also see other details that many miss. I highly recommend them!"

"Simply outstanding. Arrived promptly at the designated time and immediately covered our tile & carpeted floors, as well as furniture in the immediate work area. Upon cutting open the affected water damaged drywall, he discovered a remaining pinhole leak in a drainage pipe from the upstairs bathroom previously repaired by a plumber...or so we thought. He quickly repaired the leak, replaced the drywall section, taped, and textured the wall to match the surrounding surfaces. Upon completion, he thoroughly cleaned the area. A courteous and skilled drywall professional, I would highly recommend J Drywall to other patrons and will actively seek his services for any future drywall or interior painting jobs required in our home."

"If you're looking for a top-notch drywall contractor in Escondido, look no further than Ricardo Ramirez Santana. This guy's the real deal. From the moment he stepped into my office, I could tell I was in good hands. I called him up to replace the old plaster walls in my office, and right away, he was responsive. He got me a fair, honest estimate, and explained everything in a way that made me feel comfortable—no gimmicks, no pushy sales tactics. Just straight talk. Scheduling was a breeze, and when the day came to get the job done, you better believe he was there on time, ready to work. I’m a local real estate broker and I've seen a lot of contractors in my day, but Ricardo and his crew, they’re something special. The work? Flawless. I’m talking about smooth, even seams here. And the finish? Perfect. Thankfully, he didn’t cut corners. Every detail was taken care of. And when it was all done, they cleaned up like they'd never even been there."

"I called to get a bid from Level 5 Drywall and Chris came out the very next morning. He arrived on time, gave me a very fair quote, and he said he could get the job done the next day. The next morning his crew was punctual and they wasted no time getting the sheetrock put up. They did a very professional job and cleaned up after themselves. I'm very pleased with the work they did and I was happy with the price. I would use Level 5 Drywall again if I have any future needs.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You can technically just paint over hairline cracks in plaster since these cracks are often harmless, but this will mostly be a waste of paint. Paint will only hide the hairline crack for a few months before it shows up again. The best solution is to repair the crack with flexible filler or joint compound before repainting.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

Many homeowners choose to install tongue and groove over drywall. The great thing about this type of ceiling is that it hides imperfections. If your drywall is a little bit wonky or has some minor damage, the tongue and groove planks should cover it and give it an even appearance. Installation is simplest if you install battens over the existing framing before installing your tongue and groove planks.

Costs depend on damage size, labor rates, and whether additional services like painting are required.

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.
