"KN Remodeling redid my floors, removed a wall and got my JADU permitted, plus many more random fixes. Whatever project I threw at Nathan and his team he got done. They were great and I would use them again."

"We wanted to get our early 90's kitchen remodeled. We went with Creative Home Remodeling Group because we were impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail that our project manager, Ben Sviri, gave us. Ben was totally involved with the project from day one and always kept us informed and took a personal commitment to ensure that the project went according to schedule. The subcontractors were excellent, always showed up on time and did quality work. At the start of the project, Ben and the kitchen designer, Lenore, listened to every detail and took extra care to ensure that we got what we wanted. The end result was everything we wanted and so much more! I wholeheartedly recommend Creative Home Remodeling Group to anyone who wishes to begin a remodeling project."

"After 30+ years of dreaming about a kitchen remodel, we finally did it—and choosing SoCal Builders & Design was the best decision we could’ve made. David, our project manager, was professional, organized, and communicated every step clearly. Any minor hiccup was handled immediately, and we always felt informed and in control. Every tradesperson on the job was skilled, respectful, and meticulous. The end result exceeded our expectations—our new kitchen is stunning, functional, and feels like it came straight out of a design magazine. We’re already planning bathroom renovations and wouldn’t think of calling anyone but David and SoCal Builders & Design again. True professionals from start to finish!"

"I worked with Supreme Remodeling last year to rebuild house for me in Burbank last year. It was a long and arduous project that involved demolishing 50% of an old house down to the studs and then building an attached addition from the ground up. I sent out my completed architectural plans to at least 15 different companies, and took interviews with many of them. Received bids from maybe 5-6 different ones. Here's what the difference was. First of all, Micky the owner of Supreme remodeling took the initial meeting himself. He was in no way pushy or salesy in any way. He was patient (it took a month for me to come to a decision). I was able to look at ACTIVE construction projects that he had going on. He was extremely knowledgeable on all of the new building trends and he has a good eye for design. Once I signed on, it took about 9-10 months to complete. He has a good roster of subcontractors that he works with. But his inside guys Eddie and Ronell are outstanding. In the end the real difference that sets Supreme apart has to be the service. Micky and his staff are very available and responsive. Even on a Sunday night he's active and communicating the following weeks work. If there's an issue he's on top of it. And even though the initial cost of the project was high, you definitely get what you pay for and to be honest, it is a very common experience to have contractors to offer you a lower price just to rope you into a situation where they constantly barrage you with extra charges during the project because they weren't "in the contract". All in all I would definitively work with Micky and supreme again in the future on any projects that I have coming up."

"If you've been looking for a solution to your home remodeling needs or have been previously burned by careless tradesmen who don't have your best interests at heart, look no more. Kevin Truong of Ret Construction has been so helpful during our home renovation. He treats our remodeling ideas as if we were part of his family. He gives us different options based on our needs and suggests innovative ways to save money in the long run. What really delights us is the fact that he has us accompany him to the different businesses in order to select materials for our 2 bathroom remodels. He's able to point out prior shoddy handyman / contractor work and explain why construction shortcuts cost more money down the road. Kevin gives excellent suggestions for fixtures that look really nice but doesn't go over the top with really expensive options. I'll be calling him in the future to remodel our kitchen and I would definitely recommend Kevin Truong of Ret Construction to beautify your home or to build you a new custom home."

"This was my first experience working on a remodel. I picked Kyle because he had a coupon listed at the time for a reasonable amount for the labor and some basic materials.
Contact with Kyle was very responsive via phone or email.
I had to purchase all the tile, vanity, toilet, shower doors, faucets, and lighting myself. While this avoided any chance of a markup from the contractor, in retrospect I really could have used Kyle's assistance with double checking the quantities ordered and making sure that everything would work well together. We ran into several delays and instances where I had to scramble to find stuff that worked because what I ordered was insufficient or incompatible.
The crew he sent were friendly and punctual, but the primary guy working on site seemed pretty new and did not speak a lot of English.
The demo was done very quickly and the rest of the house remained pretty free of debris, but there was definitely a lot of plaster dust covering the adjacent rooms.
The first problem we ran into was when our hot water stopped working. It took several days, multiple guys on the crew, and a lot of water before they finally realized that the new shower mixing valve had been installed backwards causing the hot & cold water pipes to flow into each other.
The next problem was with the tile floor for the bathroom & shower. There were multiple small tiles on sheets that had a fixed pattern, but they ended up laying them down in an inconsistent orientation which caused the pattern to get screwed up. We didn't catch this until the tile guy had left for the day, but after calling Kyle he came back that night and scraped it all out. It wasted some tile but thankfully we had just enough extra to cover the rest of the floor. Ultimately there were still a few random loose tiles that were askew but thankfully they're not very noticeable. If you have them do patterned tile work, make sure you check it frequently!
The last problem happened while they were hanging the medicine cabinet/mirror combo. They didn't ask which direction to hang it before it went on the wall, so it ended up going backwards from the direction it should have opened (it has two doors with an 70/30 split and the long door was put into a corner where it couldn't open fully). I asked them to rotate it and the did, but in the process of doing so they simply rotated it around without taking the shelves out and broke one of them. While it was very audible what happened, they didn't really take responsibility for breaking it and just swept up the glass without telling us what happened.
A few other problems weren't noticeable until we started to use the bathroom again. The major issue was noticeable within a day or so was that the drain on the shower floor was slightly higher than the surrounding tile which meant there was always a little puddle of water in the shower. The other problem was that the grout in the shower area became cracked, discolored, and even fell out in some areas. I think in some cases this happened because the weight of the shower door caused the tiles it was placed on top of to lift up slightly. In any event, we eventually contacted Kyle about these issues and he sent a crew back in September to fix them and so far so good!
Unfortunately one problem remained which I had asked them to fix as well; they mounted the towel bar on the wall slightly too far apart so there's a visible gap of about 1/8" where the rod can slide between both brackets. While I mentioned this before they left the job, they did not fix it on their last day or when they came back later in the year to fix other issues. It's livable for us, but it's a good example of something you'll want to pay attention to if you have Kyle's team work for you.
While I liked working with Kyle himself, and I appreciated his willingness to resolve to the issues that came up, I think things would have gone smoother if he had taken a more active role in verifying or handling the ordering of supplies and if he'd come on site to regularly inspect the work. I suspect that some of the quality issues were because we got his B or C crew due to the coupon. If you trust yourself to order things and have time to inspect the work, I think you can get a good value for your money.

Remodel Design questions, answered by experts

Expect excavation below grade, creating a well for access, weatherproofing, and thorough inspections during setup.

When planning a general remodeling project, it's important to define the scope of work, understand your goals, and set a clear, detailed budget. You should also assess the current structure and consult with professionals like architects or contractors. Create a realistic timeline for each phase, obtain any necessary permits, and build in contingency plans for potential delays or unforeseen issues. Regular communication with all involved parties is crucial to streamline the process.

British architect John Nash is credited with creating the Italianate style of architecture. The style was further popularized in the U.S. by landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing and architect Calvert Vaux. The style spread across the U.S. due to Downing’s popular book on the style and the availability of plans and materials due to the mass production of the Industrial Revolution.

The longest part of building a custom home is the design phase. It takes multiple professionals and a ton of work to bring your vision for your dream home to life while sticking to a homebuilding budget and also ensuring everything is built to code. Expect the design phase for a custom home build to take six months to a year.

Blueprints are generally available for houses built after the early 1900s. Before then, detailed building schematics like blueprints were rarely used and even more rarely saved. If you have an older house and need blueprints, you can have a new set drawn up by an architect or draftsperson.
