"There was no electricity in one of our rooms. They found it was the sending unit in the ceiling fan not sending a message to the switch. 15 minutes later, remote reprogrammed. Mike wrote down the instructions if this should happen again. Great guys"

"My wife and I requested a quote to have some electrical work done so we could install a chandelier in our dining room, Shawn Herman called us right away and came out to do an estimate, he was very friendly and knowledgeable which is the primary reason why we decided to hire them. The technicians that came out to do the work were Tom and Nathan. They were awesome and got the work done right. We highly recommend them."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

GFCI outlets generally need to be replaced every 7 to 15 years, though some may fail in as little as 5 years, depending on usage. It is important to test them regularly. Signs that a GFCI outlet is failing or has reached the end of its lifespan include: no power coming from the outlet, the outlet not resetting when the 'reset' button is pressed, or the outlet not tripping when the 'test' button is pressed. If you notice any of these issues, it is time to replace the outlet, and it's best to contact an electrician to do so.

You may not always need to hire a local electrician to install a doorbell camera. Wireless doorbell cameras, for instance, are simple enough for the average homeowner to install. They easily attach to your threshold and run on batteries, so no wiring is necessary.

However, wired doorbells with cameras likely require electrical work that should only be attempted by licensed electricians. You’ll need to call a pro if you’re working with a wired doorbell camera.

Ultimately, the best device depends on what you’re measuring. A voltmeter only measures volts, while a multimeter measures volts, current, resistance, humidity, and possibly much more, depending on the model. If you think you’ll need to measure more than volts, consider investing in a multimeter so you have a tool that can help you with various household projects.

Wiring or installing a light the wrong way can lead to potentially dangerous scenarios, including shock and even electrical fires. If you’re the least bit uncertain whether you’ve wired something correctly, the best and safest approach is to call in a professional electrician to handle the installation for you.

The number of outdoor outlets that can be on one circuit depends on the circuit's capacity and the electrical load of each outlet. Outdoor outlets should ideally be on a dedicated circuit that is not shared with other outlets, and each outlet should be rated for at least 15 amps. A circuit rated for at least 20 amps is recommended. It’s important to use GFCI protection for all outdoor outlets to prevent electrical shocks. Overall, it's crucial to avoid overloading the circuit and take necessary safety precautions.
