"I visited Acra's showroom in Green Valley to view tile for a home I had just purchased there.  A young woman was friendly and tried to assist in finding one of their tiles that would coordinate  (but not match) with tile already in the  house.  There was a small, good selection of attractive tile to order, but nothing suitable for me.  I cancelled a free measure appointment previously set up since I had already paid for a pro measure and detail.  I did not want to use Acra's free service since it looked like they would not be able to sell me tile.  Nonetheless, the salesperson submitted a request for their estimator to bid on an install of 500 S/F of 18 or 20" tile in the $2.50 s/f range .  The job was very straightforward...no special detailing, cuts, borders, layout.  The living room area was bare concrete with no baseboard or tack strips but some minor crack repair. A week later, I received the nicely typed up, detailed proposal at over $5000.  The charges were clearly detailed for install, materials, removal of a small area of saltillo in courtyard, etc. however there were about $1000. in "supervisory" charges and just a "fee", I had not seen on any other bids (I had bids from Home Depot, Lowes and three separate tile contractors).  I have only seen charges like this when an architect or designer is overseeing a job.  This was not my case.  I declined the bid in writing and politely informed the estimator why.
I know nothing more about this company.  They appear to be providing services where there are few providers.  Green Valley residents generally must look to Tucson for showrooms and contractors. Acra does all types of construction, kitchens, etc.  It was clear to me that their high  prices for my type install were unnecessary and I booked the job, ultimately, with Home Depot at half the price.  The job is now finished and turned out quite well but I will mention that trying to deal with Lowes was a headache.  I did not choose the independent contractors because their bids were a little higher than big box stores and I worry about getting problems solved when the guy can go out of business and disappear at any time.
I rated my experience "C" because I could not find what I was seeking and the prices seem too high, even for a solid company.  However, anyone in Green Valley/Sahuarite seeking a quality job with a higher budget should definitely check out Acra."
