Air conditioning unit was not working at all, in August, needed it diagnosed and fixed quickly. I called about 6pm or so, and they said that they could get out that evening but not until 9 pm. On the plus side, they did suggest a few other companies that might have technicians closer. The other companies could not get there much faster, and I felt that was a nice thing to do to provide other alternatives, so I decided to go with this company. They showed up a little after 9, was courteous and diagnosed the problem very quickly. The fan over the compressor failed. Did a quick internet search and give or take a few dollars, you can purchase the part pretty easily for 100.00. They quoted 525 to start, ended at 470.00 and wouldn't really honor the angie's list coupon. Figuring that their labor cost is 70.00/hour and it took them 1 1/2 hours, that is 100.00 of the 470.00. So they were charging 370.00 for a 100.00 part. While I understand that they are working late and providing a needed service and need to make a profit, I can't help feel that they had an opportunity to gouge the price so they did.
Bottom line, they got it to work, just had to pay through the nose for a fairly simple repair, wish that I had waited a day and just did it myself.
"(Member) was supposed to tell us about any coupons or discounts before we went on the job. when we finished the job at 11pm he told us he had discounts. i took $75 off the bill even though i didnt have to,.discounts only apply m-f 8am 5 pm not 11pm. i think i charged him $450 for the new motor going from memory,this is an overly fair price for a new condenser fan motor installed,if you check with any other phoenix angies list contractors...going online to see how much a part costs is not a fair comparison of a turn key warrantied job. i can buy a water pump for my car for $100 but the auto repair shop wants $700-900 for the same water pump,installed and warrantied. businesses have overheads,and is why they charge what they and thier competitors charge to stay in business. we appreciate the work."
Ultimately, on the second try he showed up on time and performed the service requested.
"we are sorry this happened,on this same day we closed escrow to merge our 2 air conditioning companies,and it took alot longer than it was supposed to."
