"I conducted a lot of research prior to hiring Air Factor, and obtained bids from 6 different contractors. Air Factor was the ONLY company to calculate the size of my home to determine the appropriate size of the AC unit to properly cool my home. They were VERY thorough on the initial visit - spending 2 hours with me. Tim had a great presentation put together, including reviews from customers, insurance information, and BBB ratings/reviews (ZERO complaints by the way). The detailed information he provided built trust in the contractor. I would use them again in a heartbeat, and will definitely recommend them to my friends and family."

"I am a homeowner who is out of state. Gerardo was extremely proactive and responsive when I called him. Within two hours he had done an assessment and provided me a quote that was 15% lower than the next best quote (I had received from another company). Within a day his team had installed the hvac system and had it operational. I highly recommend Sun Devil heating and cooling."

"Our HVAC System went down this morning. My wife called me worried. The blower motor blew and the AC went down and it smelled very bad. Today is supposed to be 114 with an extreme weather alert. Martin called me in 2 minutes after the work order was put in and said he have someone out within the hour. One of the techs was out in about 20 minutes and got to work and completed everything in 2 hours. They were awesome and outstanding and highly recommend Burgos Air, LLC."

"Having just moved to the great state of Arizona from back east, I did not know much about an HVAC system, but fortunately, Steve, the technician explained how the system works and showed me exactly what needed to be done so that my system will continue providing excellent service for years to come. Steve made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process. I am very thankful that I have Valleywide Cooling as my service provider now and for the future."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You should use a breathable, weather-resistant cover with ventilation. It can be a top cover or a full cover that has mesh to allow airflow. A full, non-breathable cover can cause moisture to build up, leading to rust, frozen parts, and corrosion. A full cover also attracts unwanted critters, such as mice, that can damage the wiring and your unit. If you need to protect your AC unit from falling icicles, choose a sturdy top cover or piece of wood that prevents icicles from damaging your unit.

Most units are designed only to cool the house down to 20 degrees less than the temperature outside. This means that if it’s 99 degrees Fahrenheit out and you’re trying to cool your home down to 65 degrees, you’ll notice your AC is struggling.

Lower the blinds on all your windows, turn on your ceiling fans, and keep the thermostat at a consistent temperature to help your AC do its job. Investing in an HVAC maintenance plan also helps because pros will come out to inspect and tune up your unit regularly, keeping it in optimal working condition.

While Freon is mostly odorless, a Freon leak will produce a faint chloroform-like smell. Some people find that Freon's odor has a subtle sweetness to it. Some telltale signs of a Freon leak beyond odor include ice crystals on your evaporator coil, bubbling sounds, and hissing noises.

Not if you have a standard unit. Because portable AC units actually work to dehumidify the room, you’ll likely need to drain the unit from time to time—but you won’t have to put water into it. There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. But a swamp cooler is different from a standard portable AC unit.

Your heating and cooling systems cost you the most on your electric bill and make up 50% of your bill on average. Your washing machine, dryer, oven, and stove contribute significantly to your electric bill as well. Lights, fans, and smaller electronics add up, but aren’t the biggest energy consumers. You can reduce your power usage by setting optimal temperatures on your thermostat and investing in energy-efficient appliances.
