"I cannot say enough good words forJoe. He is a lifesaver. I have been managing a rental house in abq while I live in another state. My rental house needed interior repainting and other work. He was responsive, attentive, honest and reasonable. It was a pleasure working with him. I am relieved to have someone I can call for other work in the future. I am confident he will get the job done right....."

"John and his crew, consisting of two sons and his nephew did a fabulous job repairing several tiles on my rear patio and sealing it. They moved my heavy patio furniture off of it, put it on a tarp and covered it all up. Came back the next day and replaced everything as it was. They were all very nice, extremely courteous to my wife and myself. I highly recommend them and will certainly use them again."

"I was thrilled with the work performed by the Mercury Pool team. The waterline tile work was detailed, completed with care and high quality. The cool deck and pebble tech were also done very well. The scheduling was little hit and miss, due to weather, holidays and trying to juggle all customers. The cost of the remodel was reasonable. Overall, I was very happy with the quality of work by Mercury Pools and results of my pool remodel."

"I called Tony after losing a tenant on short notice. Tony was on the spot with a quick estimate and his work was outstanding. He also identified other areas where I needed some work done and gave me reasonable estimates. He worked well with my new tenant to finish work and I will only use him in the future for property repairs, maintenance and cleaning. First rate work!"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Before installing a new railing, check the condition of the deck frame and joists, especially around the perimeter where posts attach. If boards are loose, soft, or show signs of rot, the structure may need repair. A deck pro can inspect your framing to confirm it meets load-bearing requirements.

Most building codes list a minimum width of 36 inches and a maximum height of 7¾ inches. However, for the most comfort and spaciousness, you’ll want to aim for a width of at least 48 inches and a height of 7 inches. Again, it’s always a good idea to base your numbers off steps that you already use comfortably.

Yes, adding a composite deck, such as one made from Trex, can significantly increase your home's value. It is a valuable home renovation for recouping costs, with some estimates for return on investment (ROI) ranging between 60% and 70%. More recently, Remodeling's 2024 Cost vs. Value Report suggests a deck addition has an ROI of 82.9%, with an average resale value of nearly $14,600. A new deck makes your yard more functional, enhances the landscape's aesthetic, and can entice prospective buyers. The investment may have a higher return if the deck adds usable square footage to the property.

When building a deck, #2 grade lumber is a go-to for several reasons. It’s strong, budget-friendly, and works well for most framing and decking needs. But upgrading to #1 or Appearance Grade can give your deck that extra visual edge if you're after a cleaner, more polished look for high-visibility spots.

Yes, it is possible to add an under-deck drainage system to an existing deck by retrofitting it to the structure. This process may require some prep work. For example, many drainage systems are installed on top of the deck joists, which would require you to remove the decking boards and railings first. To avoid this, you could opt for a below-the-joist drainage system. For best results and to ensure proper installation, it is recommended to consult a professional. A pro can inspect your deck, make any necessary repairs, and then install the drainage system correctly.
