"Ruben did a great job. We needed new drawer glides because our old, cheap ones were falling apart. Ruben brought one worker and in one day they finished 15 drawers with high quality, full extension glides."

Customers say: Quality work

"We waited for years to start our kitchen remodel, and Re-New was the right choice. After getting two different quotes, we chose Re-New and couldn't be happier with their work and service. We were unsure what we wanted, just that we wanted the kitchen updated. We went to Re-New's showroom as suggested. Not only were there were so many options, they were a great help with suggestions on color, quality, and new additions like the pull out shelves, knowledgeable in general about the materials we chose. We really appreciated their expertise in the field; they provided several helpful tips. Most importantly, we're very happy with the outcome and quality. We have a kitchen that looks and feels like a new space, and we get to move in all over again. Everyone we worked with from Re-New were so nice and professional. Very happy we went with this local business."

"Tom Maupin did an excellent job of replacing a pull out drawer in our kitchen. This was a small job and I wasn't in a hurry to have completed. Tom finished the job in a timely manner and at a very competitive price. The replacement drawer matched our other drawers very well. Tom was very professional completed the install very quickly. I would definitely use Maupin Woodworks again."

Closets questions, answered by experts

We use storage in nearly every room of the house, so it's no surprise that we lose track of things from time to time. The best way to organize storage is to declutter each year to cut down on auxiliary items that can be donated or tossed. Once you decide what's worth keeping, create an inventory list for all boxes you won't open for at least six months.

Yes, adding a built-in or custom closet generally increases your home's value and makes it more attractive to potential buyers. A well-designed closet adds utility, organization, and a touch of luxury, which are appealing selling points. Most homeowners see a return on investment (ROI) of 50% to 60%; for example, a custom closet can add about $1,000 to your home's value on average. The specific ROI depends on the type, with custom walk-in closets typically providing more value than reach-in closets. However, to maximize value, ensure the closet doesn't significantly detract from the room's usable square footage. Converting an entire room into a closet can actually lower your home's value. Similarly, using overly lavish materials may not recoup their cost. A good strategy is to add a closet that takes square footage from a non-living area, such as a garage, to create a mudroom closet.

A standard walk-in closet has dimensions of 7 feet by 10 feet at a minimum and an average of 100 square feet. Remember that the dimensions of the closet aren’t necessarily the usable space. This means that a 100-square-foot walk-in closet with shelves on each wall and an island may only have a walkable area of 50 square feet or less. Make sure you consider the effect of additions when you plan the room—mockups are a great idea.

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.

Bedrooms and living rooms generally cost the least to remodel. Of course, the project price will depend on what you're planning to do to the space and the cost of the materials you choose to incorporate. Prices are typically lower than those of other remodels because major plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work isn't often part of remodeling these rooms.
