"Technician (Jose) present himself 4 hours late. (It was schedule at 8:00 AM and he arrive at noon). At his arrival he checked that the thermostat was on. Then he only did a 4 minutes HVAC diagnostic and decide to not add coolant or check something else. (He additionally leave a trail of sunflower seeds shell in my backyard). The company call me later to know if I wanted a quote for 2 new AC units and ask me on how was my experience, so they mention that the technician was new."

"After a sleepless night (too hot) with little AC, I put in a request for AC service with Angi. Within seconds of completing my request, one hour Heating and Air Conditioning reached out. I scheduled service for a few hours later that same day. Cody came out and worked on the system for around two hours to resolve our issue. He stayed long enough to insure the system was working as it should. Upon completion I was expecting a fairly large bill for the service but was delighted to find I could sign up for regular service for a small fee. Everything is working great and we are happy and Cool!"

"Our AC stopped working suddenly due to a grounded compressor. He came out to our house that night, helped diagnose what went wrong (while showing me all the steps he was taking) and was back the next day with a new unit to install. Friendly, punctual, and always kept me updated on everything. Will definitely recommend to family and friends!"

"By the time of this review the AC had been down for a week with interior temps almost reaching 100 degrees. During that time we already contacted two other HVAC companies to diagnosis & repair quotes. Both claimed that the Blower wheel & motor needed to be replaced. The quotes received for the parts/labor were really high. We told them our finances were tight & we just wanted to repair the current HVAC system but both repeatedly tried to convince(upsell) us to buy or finance new HVAC units instead of repairing. So we kept looking & we submitted our repair project request on HomeAdvisor. Just minutes later we got a call from Annette at Sinclair Air LLC. She was very courteous & understanding of our financial situation. She said that her husband Troy was on already on a service call nearby & would come by afterwards to take a look. About 30 minutes later Annette called back to let us know Troy had finished up early & was on the way. He arrived just a few minutes later & immediately got to work. A short while later he came down with the Blower motor & wheel assembly unit. He then walked me through what had likely happened & explained that neither the wheel or motor needed replacing but had found a bad capacitor that did need be replaced. He told us he would be able to repair the Blower, replace the bad capacitor & reinstall everything for an extremely reasonable price compared to the previous quotes we had received. We immediately agreed to have him do the repairs which he then proceeded to do then about an hour or so later the AC was pumping out cold air again. Troy even stayed around after the repairs were completed to make sure everything was cooling properly and gave some tips on how to improve cooling down the house. Troy & Annette are both professional, friendly & caring people. Troy is very knowledgeable making sure to explain what he finds in his diagnosis & what he can do to resolve the problem. We are VERY SATISFIED with the excellent & quick service we received from Troy & Annette at Sinclair Air LLC. They helped us out in our time of need & we DEFINITELY RECOMMEND them for anyone looking for quality HVAC work at a reasonable price. We are keeping their number on speed-dial for any of our future HVAC service needs. Thank you Troy & Annette we really appreciate it!!!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes. In fact, not only are AC tuneups worth it, but they’re actually necessary to keep your air conditioner in good condition, improve its efficiency, and potentially prevent major damage. Experts recommend getting a tuneup at least once per year. In most cases, you’ll want to schedule it during the spring so that you can address any issues before the hottest months of the year.

Most units are designed only to cool the house down to 20 degrees less than the temperature outside. This means that if it’s 99 degrees Fahrenheit out and you’re trying to cool your home down to 65 degrees, you’ll notice your AC is struggling.

Lower the blinds on all your windows, turn on your ceiling fans, and keep the thermostat at a consistent temperature to help your AC do its job. Investing in an HVAC maintenance plan also helps because pros will come out to inspect and tune up your unit regularly, keeping it in optimal working condition.

Replacing an HVAC system does not always include new ductwork. The decision depends on the condition of your existing ducts. If they are in good shape, correctly sized for the new unit, and meet current standards, they can often be reused. However, if the ducts are damaged, poorly designed, or improperly sized, they will likely need to be replaced or upgraded to ensure the new system operates efficiently. An HVAC contractor will assess your ductwork and recommend the best course of action. Typically, ductwork is purchased separately, and a full replacement will add to the overall project cost.

If both your furnace and AC unit are more than a decade old, it may be a good idea to replace both of them. However, your furnace can last up to three decades, and your air conditioner can typically last up to 15 years, so consulting with a pro before deciding to replace both of them is best. If it’s before that time limit for each, you can fix many problems with repairs or just replace one.

The difference between a home surge protector and an HVAC surge protector is that an HVAC surge protector is designed to protect the components inside your HVAC unit while a home surge protector is installed near appliances and meant to protect your entire home. There are three tiers of whole-house surge protectors, and they are more expensive to install than HVAC surge protectors.
