"Elegant Drywall did a really great job. Arrived as scheduled, work was excellent. Oscar and Nina were very professional and personable. They were also very flexible. When the project changed unexpectedly due to circumstances out of our control, Elegant Drywall adjusted, too, with good humor and quality, timely, fairly priced work. I highly recommend Elegant Drywall without any reservations at all."

"TMTO did a beautiful job repairing the drywall in our living room. It took a while to get scheduled because it was a small job and we were out of town, but he was diligent in getting it done. I was impressed that he remembered to bring an electrical outlet box we needed. He’s a hard worker and a great guy"

"James and his crew did excellent work - from first contact to completion everything went along without a hitch. There was great attention to detail, very thorough, they communicated with us frequently, wee very professional, and were considerate of our property. We are extremely pleased with the job they did and would recommend Painting Green to everyone, with no hesitation. Overall, a great experience. "Miguel and his crew were fantastic all around. They renovated our garage with drywall and insulation, installed a door, and fixed the garage door. It's like new! Miguel was very courteous and professional and kept me very up to date. The guys were very respectful working on our property and cleaned up everything as well. From top to bottom we had no bad experiences and I would highly recommend Grey Colt Construction to anyone else who would like to have a structure remodeled or something built. Thanks, Grey Colt!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, small, superficial cracks are normal as homes settle. Older homes have a higher chance of showing signs of settling through hairline cracks from temperature changes, moisture changes, and soil shifting. However, larger cracks, or discolored cracks from water damage, may signify a bigger problem that requires reparations and preventative measures.

If you already have plaster walls and ceilings, adding new plaster costs $2 to $10 per square foot. For an average-sized room, that would come out to $1,200 to $10,000. However, the cost to replace plaster with drywall is higher—running between $720 and $1,250 for a 10-by-8-foot wall or ceiling (not including drywall finishing).

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

Fixing ceiling nail pops involves similar steps to wall repair, with the major difference being the orientation of the work. Ceiling nail pops can be more challenging because you may need to work overhead, which can be physically demanding and require additional safety precautions. Additionally, the ceiling may have different materials or finishes, such as textured surfaces, which can affect the repair process. Otherwise, the fundamental steps are the same.

A jigsaw is commonly used to cut holes in drywall. It offers versatility and precision, making it suitable for creating circular or irregular openings. When equipped with the right blade, a jigsaw can swiftly and cleanly cut through drywall, making it a good choice for DIY projects.
