"Elegant Drywall did a really great job. Arrived as scheduled, work was excellent. Oscar and Nina were very professional and personable. They were also very flexible. When the project changed unexpectedly due to circumstances out of our control, Elegant Drywall adjusted, too, with good humor and quality, timely, fairly priced work. I highly recommend Elegant Drywall without any reservations at all."

"TMTO did a beautiful job repairing the drywall in our living room. It took a while to get scheduled because it was a small job and we were out of town, but he was diligent in getting it done. I was impressed that he remembered to bring an electrical outlet box we needed. He’s a hard worker and a great guy"

There was great attention to detail, very thorough, they communicated with us frequently, wee very professional, and were considerate of our property. We are extremely pleased with the job they did and would recommend Painting Green to everyone, with no hesitation. Overall, a great experience. "Miguel and his crew were fantastic all around. They renovated our garage with drywall and insulation, installed a door, and fixed the garage door. It's like new! Miguel was very courteous and professional and kept me very up to date. The guys were very respectful working on our property and cleaned up everything as well. From top to bottom we had no bad experiences and I would highly recommend Grey Colt Construction to anyone else who would like to have a structure remodeled or something built. Thanks, Grey Colt!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $500 to $5,000, depending on damage size, labor, and finishing requirements.

Yes, if there is mold in your drywall mud and you then use it to build walls in your house—or if mold develops in your set drywall, like it can in hot and humid areas—it can lead to illness. Mold in your drywall (or other parts of your home) can make existing respiratory conditions or allergies worse, and the effect can be more intense for those who have existing health issues or compromised immune systems.

It is possible to apply plaster on the interior or exterior of your home, but we don’t recommend it. Plaster is easy to apply in theory, but in reality, it can be a challenging material to work with, and it’s difficult to get the finished product to look clean, even, and smooth. Many DIYers end up calling in a professional afterward to touch up the area or even redo it entirely because of mistakes they made in the process. Hiring a plaster pro will cost more, but it’s usually the best option to achieve high-quality results.

Whether to repair or replace water-damaged plaster depends on the scale of the damage. For small, limited areas, you can often perform a repair yourself. If you choose to paint over small patches, ensure the surface is completely dry and apply a coat of antifungal primer first to prevent mold growth. However, simply painting or plastering over the damage is only a temporary solution that doesn't address the core problem. For more extensive or long-term damage, the plaster may be compromised, and there is a risk of mold. In these cases, it is recommended to remove the damaged section of plasterboard and replace it. You may consider hiring a professional for the repair, and it's worth noting that water damage is often covered by home insurance.

The time it takes for thinset to dry is determined by your room’s ambient temperature and humidity levels. Assuming the average humidity level is around 40% with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, thinset can dry within 48 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend the curing process beyond 72 hours, while high heat and zero humidity can shorten the curing process. However, thinset can crack if it dries too fast.
