"Jesus worked with my schedule and completed the job thoroughly. The wall looks great! He also said that if there were any cracks or issues with the parts he worked on that he would come back to fix them at no charge. He's friendly and pleasant to work with!"

"Kent’s presentation was very professional. I had two other quotes prior to meeting Kent and although they were less, I wasn’t as comfortable or confident that I would be happy with the end result. Kent’s team worked very hard to work us into their schedule. As expected they did an amazing job. They will be my number 1 referral for popcorn ceiling removal and drywall repair. Thanks Kent!"

"I can not say enough great things about Dany and his team. Not only was he quick to respond to give me a free quote (out the next day) but he was able to meet my deadline to have my house painted before my furniture arrived. Dany’s attention to detail was remarkable. He showed me areas that could be touched up prework (uneven lines from old paint job) and walked me through the entire house post work; he did this to ensure I was satisfied as he takes great pride in his team’s work. He also did a couple of dry wall fixes for me along the way and his drywall work was impeccable. I am working with a designer who had her own contractors but I’m so glad I went with Dany. He did such a great job, my designer is planning on utilizing him for some of her jobs. Last Dany was very competitively priced; believe me when I say, it would be a mistake to not call him."

"The initial response to my Angie's list big deal was prompt.  Sid came to my house to give me an estimate.  Originally he was going to remove wallpaper in 3 bathrooms.  When he saw the areas he kept saying he would do as much as he could then the rest would be more money.  The work was scheduled for early September.  When I contacted Sid in Sept. he was having problems with his truck but he did come on Saturday of that week to do the work.  He started in the master bathroom.  After a little more than 3 hours I checked in.  I was amazed to find only about 2.5 or 3 strips removed.  Sid looked stressed and the room was a mess.  I told him to stop for the day and we could reschedule the remaining hour and he gave me an estimate of $200 to complete the bathroom.  This was not a large area.  I had some difficulty in contacting Sid to schedule the rest of the work and I had to call Angies's List before I got a response from him.  Eventually he came back and removed the rest of the wallpaper.  This time it went smoothly and it took about 5hours.  I then said I did not want anymore paper removed and paid him $200.  This was a frustrating and disappointing experience.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

The best way to make long, straight cuts is to use a utility knife and a T-square to score the sheet, snap along the score, and then finish the cut by cutting through the paper on the opposite side with the utility knife. If you’re making small cuts, curved cuts, or cutouts for electrical boxes or light fixtures, you can use a manual jab saw to keep costs down, but an electric spiral saw or oscillating multi-tool will get the cleanest, fastest cuts possible.

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. This step makes the existing plaster less porous and ensures the new and old layers adhere properly for a smooth, long-lasting finish.

A 50-pound mirror can be hung on drywall, but only if it has the support of strong hardware. Ideally, you can find the studs behind the drywall and attach the mirror to them; this will give your mirror better stability. Otherwise, confirm that you are using anchors appropriate to the weight of the mirrors. Another technique is to use French cleats—two pieces of wood that fit together, with one piece attached to the wall and the other to the mirror. This allows the weight to be distributed over a wider area.

Some textures are easier than others to DIY, but the short answer is yes, you can absolutely texture walls yourself. You’ll need certain materials, like a trowel or paint sprayer, but the most important things you’ll need are patience and time. DIYing wall texture can save money and be a fun, messy project, but homeowners need to know that adding texture to a wall isn’t a quick project.
