"I hired the AZ Painting Co to repaint the exterior of my small stucco home. They also replaced some rotting wood and power washed a small stain on my block wall. At the time they were offering a 10% discount. I thought they did a great job, worked quickly and efficiently and I would definitely hire them again!"

"Jimmy came to my home to give me a quote and I was very impressed! He was professional and friendly and explained thoroughly the process to paint the exterior of the house. The painters came this morning and finished at 4:00 p.m. They did a fantastic job! John came to make sure of my satisfaction. I wish there were more companies/people like C&A painting. It was a pleasure to deal with them! Highly recommend!"

"Robert and Rick painted the exterior of our home. They were flexible with our schedule, took great care in prepping and were very professional in their conduct. They cleaned up and delivered on time. It was evident they cared about the work they do. I love the sheen on our garage door! We were so pleased with their work that we hired them a few weeks later to come back and paint two of our bedrooms! I was not disappointed! No job is too big or too small for them. They deliver with integrity. Thank you R & R!"

"Exterior painting of our house and exterior cinder block walls and planter boxes The crew showed up on time and ready to work (even in the extreme heat). Crash of Rhinos actually had a spot open up a month before our scheduled date- so we were happy to take it! My mother in law (who lived with us) got sick so the crew had no problem delaying painting for a day. When my MIL passed away unexpectedly...we received a sympathy card from Crash of Rhinos as well. The speed/professionalism/courtesy of their workers is great... and we have no complaints! I will not hesitate to call them for any future projects...And I have referred two others to them for for painting as well."

"I was referred to JP Brothers Painting from a family friend who had a great experience. From the start, Maggie was awesome and always responded promptly to any messages. The painters were always early and never late to the time they provided. I am a detail oriented person and there were many cracks and holes in my stucco, fascia boards cracking, and foundation paint cracked. They went above and beyond my expectation with all the work they did in prep, which we all know is the most important. They used Sherwin Williams superpaint and the quote provided was more than reasonable. I’m very happy and wouldn’t think twice about using JP Brothers, my neighbor wanted their card and I will always refer to them because they did things the right way. Thank you!!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.

You can refresh a painted deck by either giving it a thorough cleaning or refinishing the deck altogether. Chipped or faded paint, as well as extensive damage, often calls for a new finish. To do this, remove the original coat of paint with a sander and add either a new coat of paint or a stain to protect the wood below.

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.
